FabFitFun Summer 2017 Editor's Box

This box was a new one for me. I've received just about every subscription box I've heard of, but this one was never one that I would bite the bullet on. It seemed like it had lots of things I didn't need. I ordered a trial month, just to see.  FabFitFun, unlike all of the other boxes I've tried, is shipped quarterly, with a mix of health, fitness, beauty, and lifestyle items. From past spoilers, it seems like all of the items fit in the Gone Girl-esque Cool Girl aesthetic, but I was curious. I was sent the Editor's box instead of the usual box, which is what usually happens when the seasonal box is sold out. Here's what was in the box.

Spongelle Bulgarian Rose Body Wash Infused Buffer - $16

Exfoliate and cleanse all at the same time! This hypoallergenic sponge has a time released creamy lather made with extracts of Yuzu, Edelweiss, and Vetiver. It moisturizes, rejuvenates, and restores your skin, leaving it soft as silk.

About a year ago, maybe more, I received a Spongelle body scrubber in a Boxycharm. IT's a neat idea -- body wash inside a loofa, saving time and effort. I like the Spongelle spongs. I think that they work. They are very heavily scented, so that's somethign to consider. This one made the whole box smell like artifical roses. I find that it has also lasted really well. The last sponge that I got lasted for a full 20 washes, and it claims to last more than 14, so no complaints.

Would purchase? Yes, I like Spongelle, but the price definitely makes it a luxury.

RealHer Playbook Eyeshadow Palette 2 - $28

Hue won't believe your eyes! Featuring richly-pigmented shades and sey combinations, these long-wearing, crease-resistant colors are perfect for creating everyday looks or nighttime drama.

There are so many things to love about this eyeshadow palette. The colors are beautifully pigmented and really do last. They're vegan and cruelty-free. They have empowering names, like Limitless and Unshakeable. It has a huge mirror for putting on my makeup when I get to work...not saying that I do that, but I might sometimes. I wish that this was a more accessible brand, because I know I won't be reaching to buy any more products, but this is definitely a good one.

Would repurchase? I hate ordering makeup online :/

Luv Aj Full Bloom Lariat - $75 (wtf)

This dainty plated rose gold necklace is sure to be your new favorite bauble. It has an open hoop charm and hex-studded crystal detailing. Plus, the draping lariat style complements any outfit.

Alrighty. We need to talk about that price point. Seventy-fucking-five dollars. I like this necklace. I really do. It's beautiful, and it matches lots of outfits that I already wear. But SEVENTY FIVE good American dollars is just too much. It feels dainty, yes, but you know what dainty feels like? Cheap. It feels like it could break, and if I had paid the $15 that I think this is worth, I wouldn't feel bad about it breaking, but $75? I will never buy anything from this company because the quality can't possibly match the price point. It's not a bad necklace, but it does feel more like Forever 21 that Nordstrom.

Would repurchase: Only if it was on sale for 80% off.

bkr Little – $35

Drink up! This gorgeous glass waterbottle will change the way you hydrate forver. Also the convenient 500mL size makes it easy to take on-the-go whether you're travelling or heading to the gym.

bkr waterbottles have been blowing up everywhere lately. They're the status symbol of the white suburban gym-going woman. I'll admit that I wanted one. I didn't want one enough to throw $35 dollars at it, but I did kind of want it. I love the 500mL size and the color of the silicone cover. Did it "change the way I hydrate forever"? Of course not. It's a splurgey waterbottle, but I'm fine with it.

Would repurchase? Yesssss...but maybe for a gift to a millenial.

Briogeo Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Cream - $24

A weightless blow-dry finishing and heat protectant cream fortified with rosehip, argan, and coconut oils. This silicone-free and weightless formula is infused with a nourishing blend of oils to smooth hair, enhance  shine, tame frizz, and thermal protect up to 425F.

This is another not-new  product for me. Briogeo has been making the rounds. This does an excellent job of making my hair feel healthy, even when I'm blasting the crap out of it with heat. Like some other items, this has a pretty strong scent, so beware.

Would repurchase? Yes. Great heat protectant.

dr. brandt PorDermabrasion - $58

We all want picture perfect skin and that starts with exfoliation. Strengthen, refine, and tighten pores with PoreDermabrasion. The formula helps unclog and refine the appearance of pores, and provides dual exfoliation (physical and chemical) to effectively  remove dead skin and improve texture.

Another pre-loved one for me. I know that some people hate physical exfoliants, but I loooove them. I need that top layer of skin just scraped off and I really appreciate the harsh grit of dr. brandt. It is very harsh, so it is not suited for sensitive skin. It also smells like soem harsh chemicals, which I like.

Would repurchase? Yes.

MILLY Zip Pouch - $45

Traveling with wet bikinis is inevitable. Keep your suits safe and away from your other valuables with this water-resistant bag.

Traveling with wet bikinis isn't inevitable...because I don't do that. This is a nice pouch. It's sturdy and pretty and well-constructed. But it's not worth $45.

Would repurchase? No.

Michael Stars Ruana - $54

This gorgeous ruana is going to be the star of your beach trip. Wear it as a scarf, sarong, or simply drape it like a shawl -- either way, you'll love the versatility of this piece.

This has been surprisingly versatile. The one I got is black and white, so it's easy to wear. I've mostly been draping it like a scarf, but you could wear it other ways.

Would repurchase? Yes.

Manna Kadar Lip Locked Stain in Lucky - $24

We're getting you lip locked and loaded. This 3-in-1 product will be your pout's new BFF. We're talking primer, lip gloss, and lip stain all-in-one, plus it adds moisturizing treatment to your lips to keep them super kissable.

More repeats. I've gotten this same lipstick in this same shade four times. I passed it on to a friend. It's not bad, but it doesn't last very long and I can't justify the price if that's the case.

Would repurchase? I already have a lifetime supply.

Okay. So, this box was retailing for $29.99 with a discount code (editors boxes are usually more discounted), and has a total retail value of $359. That's crazy. If you're interested in trying out, you can use this link for $10 off your first box. That will bring the price of the Fall box (shipping soon!) down to just $39.99. With a guaranteed value of more than $200, that's a hell of a deal.
