I'm Back! And Happy Birthday to my Niece! :D
Hey guys!
So I'm back blogging, or something like that. One of my friends mentioned how much she missed my youtube videos, and I really missed making them, so I thought I'd head back to that. But I thought it would be a ton of fun to have a blog in conjunction with that too. So here we are!
That was kind of all I really wanted to talk about.
Oh! Wait.
It's my niece's birthday. She's six.
If you're not terribly familiar, I'm off and away at school, and so I've conveniently missed her entire birthday. This is a blessing and a curse.
Blessing:
Children's birthdays are a lot of hassle and involve small children. I know that sounds kind of obvious, but I'm not really into several six-year-olds running around near me. One is enough. Not to mention the cake. My mother described it to me over the phone, and I can only imagine what a monstrosity this thing is. She mentioned mounds of pink icing and disney princesses tossed haphazardly over the cake. The kind of thing that's so sweet it makes your teeth itch just thinking about it. I am not sad that I am missing this.
Curse:
I do kind of like my niece. She's a good kid. So's her brother for that matter. I don't really want them to read this and think that I hate them...because I don't they're pretty good. I like them, and I think my niece at least likes me. This is probably because I do things with her that her mother, and my mother (her grandmother) don't really do. Like I let her listen to Justin Bieber when we drive in the car. My mother has a certain hatred for the Biebs, but I don't mind. Jenna loves him. Sometimes, when I'm feeling particularly nice, I'll paint her nails pink and put on the special top coat that's made of sparkles. She likes that a lot too. And even MORE special, sometimes we'll play Dinopoly, which is like dinosaur themed monopoly. I don't let her win, but usually we'll go a few rounds where I'll buy her Supersaurus (Park Place) just because it's on a pink square. This is the most rare treat because Monopoly with kids is a dang inconvenience. She finally learned how to count the spaces that she rolls, so it's getting better.
I think I'm a good aunt sometimes.
I have a couple big old midterms this week, so I should probably get going. But be nice to little kids, they won't be little for long. Jenna probably won't remember the pink sparkle nail polish or the little robot dog I bought her that she probably hasn't unwrapped yet (shh It's a surprise!), but she will remember that we did something she really enjoyed way back when she was five, before I moved away.
