My Favorite Bloggers and Love From Home

Today has been a really slow day. I didn’t really have anything planned to talk about today. It’s just a lazy day. After working this week, and getting amped up with two countries worth of patriotism, I’m just sleepy really. Today, I decided that because I was feeling so sleepy, I should head out to the park, and maybe camp out under a tree and get some writing done. I did indeed get a little bit of work done, and the Halifax Public Gardens are gorgeous right now.

After my day at the park, I got a package from my Mom today! She sends the best care packages, because she knows what I like better than anyone. Sometimes it’s just a jar of peanut butter or a card, sometimes it’s clothes, or a book or something. She knew that I was being kind of down lately, so she sent me a few things that would cheer me up!

In her package was a package of origami paper. Little known fact: I am really, really good at origami. I can fold stuff quite well. Ridiculously well if I do say so myself. Ma knows about this, and kind of nicely sent that along, complete with a note about how much she misses me and that I should come home. I think the moving out was a little traumatic for her. Empty nest and all that. I folded this neat little throwing star. Also in the package was a delightful note. As well, she sent me a book called Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir, written by Jenny Lawson. This is fantastic, because now I have another book of the week to tell you about, and I certainly will read through this one as soon as I'm done with my current book. As well, this book was special, because it made me want to tell you about what I look for in a blog.

Jenny Lawson is one of my favorite bloggers, posting on thebloggess.com . The important thing about  blogs, I find, is of course that they are entertaining. The big thing for me is that I have to hold the same kind of lifestyle as the other blogger. I’m not trying to be discriminatory, but the more I can relate to them, the more likely it is that I’ll stick around. Sometimes, there are people who I just cannot relate to. There was a while where I was subscribed to a lot of youtube beauty gurus, but a lot of them simply are imposible to imagine them having a life anything like mine, so they got the boot. That’s pretty much my only criteria in a good blogger, besides the obvious, good punctuation, spelling, etc. Oh, and a little bit of humor helps.

Do your parents still send you care packages?
