Glossybox Canada July 2012

Today I received my July Glossybox. What’s wrong with this picture, you ask? Well. It’s August. But we’ll get to that later.  First, let’s talk about what I got in this month’s box! It had the usual cards in a black envelope, this month they were a Eucerin coupon ($2 off), and two pamplets, one about Frizz-ease products, and the other about Beautysoclean. There was also the card that states which products you have this month.

The first product is a Zoya nail polish, in the color Wednesday. Summer 2012 is going to be a super stylish season for nails with the latest offering, designed by the Zoya experts. It is kissed by sand and sea with the famous, full-coverage Zoya formula. FULL SIZE! This product retails for $8. I whipped this little guy out and tried it right away. I’ve never used Zoya before, but I really wanted to, so I was excited to get this in my box. The color is a nice creamy teal color, and it covered flawlessly in two coats. Very impressed.

Next, from Allesandro International is Pedix Heel Rescue Balm. Pedix Heel Rescue Balm protects and nourishes your skin with shea butter, allantoin and tea-tree-oil. This is a 30mL product, so it’s worth roughly $5.99. Made in Germany, this product is thick, creamy, and smells very very strongly of mint. That’s really common in foot products though. I have pretty thick heels, so I’m looking forward to trying this.

Up next is the John Frieda Frizz-ease Xtra Strength Serum. Instantly and dramatically transforms coarse, wiry, unruly frizz for ultra-sleek, purely polished, super-shiny results! It says it’s full-size, but it’s not. It’s about half-size. A typo on their part, but a little disappointing. This makes it worth $7.19. I’ve used John Frieda in the past, and it was fine, but it wasn’t stellar. I’ve never tried this though, so maybe it will be something special. My hair does get a bit frizzy, but it’s not wiry or coarse. We shall certainly see how this goes!

On the card, it says I’m supposed to have a Eucerin Calming Cream sample, but I don’t. It’s simply not in the box. I’ve sent them an email, so we have yet to see how they respond.  I’ve seen from other people that the sample is pathetically tiny, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever see it at all.

Next is the Dove Softening Crème Body Wash. Get visibly more beautiful skin in just one week. Use daily for soft, smooth skin. FULL SIZE! This doesn’t scream “luxury” to me, but I’ll certainly use it. It’s a fairly good 200mL size at $5.99. Not bad at all. I’m eager to put it to the test of beautiful skin in 1 week.

Finally are the Beautysoclean Sanitizer Wipes. These convenient cosmetic sanitizer wipes are effective for sanitizing makeup that accumulates visible debris like dust, lint and food particles. You get four, at a value of $1.04. I feel like I would really like these if I was a makeup artist, but I’m not. I don’t share a whole lot of my makeup, and it doesn’t really get visibly dirty. I might use these for a quick disinfect of my brushes, but that’s it.

Overall, not magical. There are some things, but nothing that I’m really bouncing up and down over. Coupled with the missing product, I’m not overly impressed. If we were in a store, the only thing I’d buy would be the Zoya polish.

Honestly, I’ve unsubscribed from Glossybox. The past couple of months have been a little disappointing, coupled with problems with shipping (it’s August!) followed by poor treatment of their customers (check out their Facebook page, as well as a highly passive-aggressive email) caused me to cancel. Overall, I’m just unimpressed. I’ll be taking the month off from beauty box services. It really works out well, coupled with my spending ban, as well as my holiday travelling. After that, we’ll see. I’m going to decide if I want to do another or if I’ll just stick to purchasing my things at stores from now on. The total value of this box was $28.21. That's just not good enough.

I’ll keep you updated on the missing item. What did you guys get in your Glossyboxes (or Glymm, or Topbox, or anything like that!)? I’d love to know. Also, how do you find the company as a whole?

Here's my unboxing video!

Also, one of the blogs I follow is having a giveaway! If you'd like to enter, you can find it here:  http://industrialdimestoremagic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/giveaway-reminder.html Her blog is really great, and she did a post about the very same glossybox that I got!
