Essence Vintage District Blush

I can never decry my love of Essence too much, but this product was a little hit and miss for me. The other day the roommate and I were walking around, and I was picking up some things for the moving times as well as some things for when I have to pack up and get on a flight. At the Shoppers they had a little Essence Limited Edition display. Past collections included “Ready for Boarding” which was travel themed, Twilight, and Cherry Blossom. Now we have Vintage District.

Vintage District is kind or bohemian and hipster-ish. The colour scheme for this one was kind of a tangerine-orange colour, a bright teal-y blue, and a brick red. The collection includes lipsticks, glosses, nail polishes and nail art kits, gel eyeliners, some funky-looking eye shadows, and one blush. Nothing really caught my eye in an I need this thing in my life kind of way except for the blush. The blush also has a shade, which is 01 Popul-Art, even though it's the only one.

I bought this because of the way it looked for sure. It’s so pretty. It was also on $4, taxes in. It has a nice tangerine coloured base, with a deep pink floral motif overlaid with a gold shimmer.

Bad:
I had a lot of trouble swatching this because it isn’t highly pigmented. Against the skin of my wrist, it pretty much disappears.
Good:
It's buildable, so you could get a lot of colour if you wanted. On the face, it does give a wash of peachy glow. The overall effect was very natural looking.

Bad:
Oh the glitter. Yikes. It’s a hot mess.
Good:
The glitter is only a very thin layer, and is only on part of the pan, so after I used the blush for the first time, it was mostly gone. The pink colour underneath is lovely, and I will get a lot of use out of it.

Bad:
Chalky. Talc is one of the main ingredients, so it is a little bit crumbly in consistency.
Good:
Long wearing. I don’t have to worry about this coming off.

Overall, this wasn’t a bad purchase. It’s not spectacular, but I’m happy that I got it. It will be nice for the spring, and because of its price, I won’t feel too awful about it getting banged up while I’m travelling.

Do you have any new products for spring?
