BA STAR Holographic Silver Glitter and Glue

About a week ago, while I was away at my sister’s house, I received in the mail some glitter and glue from the brand BA STAR. BA STAR appears to do the majority of their business for cheerleaders and dance teams, and that is definitely evident in this product. Even though glitter may be something you traditionally associate with the stage or little girls, everyone could use a little sparkle in their lives, and this product does not disappoint.

BA STAR lists on their website (bastar.com) that this product is “Ultra Fine Glitter for Eyes, Face, Nails, and Hair!” Being a loose glitter, it really has a variety of uses. The glitter itself is finely milled, and comes in a small acrylic pot. A little goes a long way because it is so eye catching. An added benefit of its fine nature is that it is not gritty, which is an especially important quality when it is to be worn around the eyes. The colour that I received was the holographic silver glitter, but on the website there are 16 different shades to match anything you can think of, including silver, gold, and bronze. I think that this holographic one is my favourite because of all of its different colours. It goes with everything!

The glue itself is more of a cream consistency than a watery consistency and is slightly thicker than lash glue. It comes in a clear plastic tube with a doe foot applicator. The application itself was quick and easy, and the glue dries quickly across the skin. It also did not shrink as it dried, so I think it would be unlikely to flake off after hours of wear. Although it is white, it dries clear and in a very thin layer so it is not bumpy or rough on the skin. After testing it over several days, I did not find it to be drying. It also does a really good job of holding the glitter on, so it isn’t nearly as messy as a lot of other loose glitters I have seen. The glue is sweat resistant, but came off easily with water without leaving a residue on my skin.

Although it does have many uses, I think my favourite will be to wear it on my nails. I work in a conservative office, so glittering eyes are not always appropriate, but a fun manicure wouldn’t go amiss. You could also apply a little in the centre of the eye for a fun sheen over your ordinary eye look. However, for a fun night out look, I think this would do the trick as well. I know it’s a little early to start thinking about it, but this would also be awesome at parties around the holidays. I’m super excited to keep trying the glitter out in a lot of different ways. I was really blown away by the quality for the price.

Both of these products retail for $8.75 each, but with the coupon code BBGLITZ, you can get 50% off! The pot of glitter is also a whole 5 ounces by weight, and the glue is 1.5 fluid ounces, so you are getting a lot of bang for you buck. Shipping is also free if you spend $55, and shipping within the US is pretty affordable. If you're shipping to Canada, I recommend going in with a bunch of your friends to bring the price up to $55, because the costs do add up quickly.

In both photos, I did pack it on thickly to get an idea of the colour. It is possible to do a light wash of sparkle over the skin.

What about you? Do you like using glitter every day, or is it just for special occasions?

This product was provided to me by BA STAR for consideration, but all opinions are my own, I promise.
