Balea Face Mask: Part 1
I was walking through the Shoppers Drug Mart the other day, and I saw a big display for Balea masks for hands, feet, face, and hair. Intrigued, especially after the failure of the Garnier tissue mask, I thought I’d give them a go. They’re the outrageously affordable price of 3/$5, so I didn’t really think it was too big of a risk.
This week, I tried out the French Clay (Montromillonite Clay) Detoxifying Face Mask. The package seemed to have exactly how much I needed, which was excellent. It didn’t feel like I was wasting any, or not using enough. It didn’t have a strong scent one way or another, and definitely looked like dirt. It went on a muddy, mossy green, but turned brown on my face over the fifteen minutes that I had it on.
I put it on with my fingers, just smearing it on all over my face. It’s slippery and messy to put on. It also frightening tinged my fingers a mossy green colour. I immediately started having second thoughts because I didn’t want it to stain my
face that colour! But it was already on, so I figured I’d leave it and see what happened.
On the face, it does tingle a little and feels tight, although it didn’t dry fully. Getting it off was kind of a hassle. It took a lot of scrubbing and scraping and I could tell that I was making a mess. This is definitely one time you’ll have to clean your sink out. It did
not make my face brown or green or any other colour it wasn’t supposed to.
Immediate after effects: my skin felt smoother and tighter. It did dry out a few spots that I had, which was good, but did require a good moisturiser afterwards. I enjoyed it a lot, actually. It felt really nice.
It’s now the next day, and it’s been roughly 24 hours since I used the mask, and my skin definitely was still feeling better today than it was before I used it. For those results, and the price, you can’t really beat it! I've still got two more to try out, so we'll see if the other ones are any better. :)
Have you tried a pre-packaged face mask?
