Blogmas #14: Topbox December 2013

I received my December Topbox last Wednesday and have some new goodies to share.

This month I once again opted for the regular Topbox instead of a prive box, even though last month, the box kind of sucked. This month’s was a little bit better, but also had some problems.

Belvada Cosmetics Coconut Lip Butter
Belvada’s Coconut Lip Butter was specially formulated to create immediate and long-lasting softness.

Full size: $10 for 10mL
Sample: $10 for 10mL (Full size)

I really like this. It reminds me almost exactly of the Body Shop’s lip butter. The consistency and the scent/taste is very pleasant. It also leaves a nice shine on your lips. I’ll definitely get some use out of this.

Cuccio Colout Nail Laquer in Moscow Red Square
Triple pigmented colour, DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde FREE, High Shine Professional Nail Colours.

Full size: $10 for 14mL
Sample: $10 for 14mL (Full size)

This nail polish is gorgeous. It’s a rich burgundy, and is fully opaque after one coat, but sublime after two. It dries quickly as well. Very impressed, and happy to add it to the collection.

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Eau de Parfum
Experience the new fragrance that captures your style, your confidence, your creative spirit. An alluring contrast of sparkling florals, and sleek, sensual woods. A Modern Muse is memorable, a force of creative energy, a true inspiration to others.

Full size: $65 (30mL), $90 (50mL), $115 (100mL )
Sample: $6.28 for 2.9 mL

I heard a rumor that you can start opting out of perfumes in upcoming boxes starting in January, which I am excited for. That said, I do like this one. It’s floral, like it says it will be, but not too girly. I’ll use it, but won’t be purchasing it. Even though it is larger than most perfume samples, it doesn’t have a spritzer or anything at the top to spray it; instead it just has a cork. I don’t like that at all.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant
A legendary beauty secret. Add shine to eyelids, cheeks, and lips. Or shape eyebrows for the perfect arch.

Full size: $25 for 50mL
Sample: $15 for 30mL

This smells SO bad. It’s like if you mixed fish oil with febreze. I don’t want to put it anywhere near myself. It’s this orange paste, and it just makes everything have this terrible smell that lingers for hours. I thought it might be a lotion or something but it certainly isn’t. I did a little googling and apparently it does come in a fragrance free variety, but this one certainly isn’t. It suggests putting it on eyelids cheeks and lips, but I don’t think I could stand that. I did a little googling and it is supposedly good for scar reduction, so I might dab some on my not-quite-gone chicken pox spots, but that’s the only thing I can think of using it for.

Altogether, I spent $13.80 for $41.28 worth of stuff. Two of the products were full size, and one was more than half size.  I’m looking forward to trying out the nail polish and the lip butter, but that skin cream will take some thinking about.

Still hoping for a little improvement next month, but this is a little better than all things I didn’t like last month.

In today's advent calendar, I received a Badgal Lash mascara.

I've used this in the past, and it's okay. It's not my favourite. I just started in on a new mascara, so I'll use that one up first before I dive into this one. This one is a nice size for travel, and I am making the trek home on Wednesday, so a few of these advent calendar things will find their way into my bag.

What did you get in your subscription box this month?
