Aveeno Smart Essentials Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment
I think that everyone has their makeup ‘thing’ that they need to try out. For a lot of my friends it’s lipsticks. They need to try every lipstick they can find. But for me, it’s dark circle creams. I have some pretty bad dark circles, which is a combination of genetics and a lack of sleep (that I’m working on, I swear!) that is fuelled by the college lifestyle. Because of this, when I received this Aveeno Smart Essentials Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment, I could not get it out of the package fast enough.
The Smart Essentials line is based around the antioxidant southernwood extract, which is supposed to cleanse, nourish, protect, and treat stressed skin. This product in particular claims to infuse your delicate under-eye skin with Vitamins A, C & E in a formula to combat dark circles, hydrates to help immediately brighten eye area, and de-puffs under eye area by massaging with a cooling roller-ball.
The packaging is shorter, stubbier, and less curvaceous than a lot of other under eye rollers. When I first opened the package, I thought that it might have been a sample size, but it is indeed the full size version. While the same price as similar eye rollers, it is considerably smaller (Garnier’s is 15mL, while this one is only 8mL). Because of this, I was kind of expecting this to be a miracle product, worth paying nearly double per mL for.
You give it a good shake and then just slide it on. It goes on really nicely, after which I tap it in with my finger. I like the metal roller ball, which does provide a wonderfully smooth cooling sensation as you glide it on. I do notice that my eye area is more moisturised, as claimed. Unfortunately, that is all I can report. I have been using this product twice a day (morning and night, as recommended) for more than three weeks now, and I haven’t noticed an improvement in my dark circles. This was the feature that I was really needing the most, and I was let down. It’s also worth noting that I don’t have an issue with puffiness, so I couldn’t test that out. I reached out to a friend of mine who has used this in the past and she said that she had a lot of improvement on under eye puffiness, but still no improvement on her dark circles.
I am going to continue to use this until it’s gone, just in case it takes a long time to show effects, but I won’t be getting another. If you have problems with puffiness, I would suggest giving it a try, but don’t expect it to do much for your raccoon eyes.
The Aveeno Smart Essentials Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment retails for $12.99.
