Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Daily Moisturizer

It's slowly but surely becoming warmer as spring creeps in, so it's time to start thinking about putting away some of my heavier foundations and using lighter products.

Let’s talk about Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer Daily anti-aging moisturizer. Garnier reached out to me and sent this along a few weeks ago, and I’ve been trying to find the right way to use it ever since.

From the Garnier website:

A daily transformation. Experience younger-looking skin from the 1st contact. Upon application, skin is more even, luminous, and fine lines look reduced. Our auto-adjusting formula, with Pro-Retinol and micro-pigments, works over time so that wrinkles look reduced, skin feels firmer, and younger-looking.

It also says on the website that it “unifies” the face. I don’t even know what that means.

I’m not really the right target age for antiaging, although I hear that you’re supposed to start in your twenties. I thought I’d give it a try, and it has some good things about it, and some bad things.

Really, this isn't anything more than a glorified tinted moisturiser. This product is white in the tube, but turns skin-toned when you put it on. Sort of. It turns skin-toned if you’re very orange-based. I even tried this out on one of my darker skinned friends and it turned the same orange color. It’s noticeably the wrong shade, to the point that I can't wear it outside.

This product is also not particularly inexpensive. I saw it on for $23.99 at my local drugstore this morning. In terms of drugstore brands, that is really pushing the upper limit.

This stuff smells great and absorbs into the skin quickly. I don’t need to use another moisturizer after it. I definitely feel like my skin is hydrated. Does it live up to it’s other claims? I don’t think so. It makes my face look muddy and considerably worse than when I put it on. I find the pigment sits in the few wrinkles I have, leaving orangey streaks.

So…not Garnier’s best product, but you can’t get them all right!
