Life Update January 2015

It's been a while since my last update, when I was still finishing my internship. A lot has happened since then.

I finished up my internship in August, and set up a new job in my field starting two weeks later. I took a nice vacation to Canada and had some nice communing with nature for a while and then came back to start work.

I had interviewed for this job several months before I started. I was excite to start. Unfortunately, it just did not work out. I was miserable. I hated going to work every morning and wasn't sure how long I could stick with it. I couldn't. It wasn't a problem with the people, really, it was just not what I had been led to expect. I lasted a week before I quit. Started on Monday, quit on Friday. I felt awful about it. I still feel awful about it.

Walking into my supervisor's office on Friday afternoon to resign after only working for her for a few days was one of the scariest things I have ever done.

Cue two weeks of agonizing unemployment and job searching.

The company I had an internship with happened to have a vacancy from September until December, so I went back to working for them very quickly.

I then began scrambling to get my life together before Christmas, assuming that my job would be over at that point and I would need a new one or some other plan.

I reapplied to grad school, this time here in Montana. I was accepted into a Masters of Education program to be a high school teacher. I've taught in the past and it seemed like a great fit. I have just finished up my first week of classes and it's going really well so far, even if there's still a long way to go. I also get to be part of a fantastic scholarship program that gives me lots of opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise had. With luck, I'll be finished in Spring 2016 and able to teach starting in September of this year.

My place of work is also experiencing some transition and they asked if I would stay on for a few months part-time.

To sum up, things are great and they're on track. It's been a very stressful few months, but I'm where I want to be now.

If I'm a little absent from time to time, it's because of the rigors of grad school. I'm confident that everything will be how it needs to be in the end, but as always, school comes first.
