Me-Time Tag and Dead Sea Mud Mask
I have reached that point in the semester where everything is stressful. There is so much school going on, and then work on top of that, and then trying to have some kind of social life after. I’ve been starting to try and develop some kind of system for pulling my personal time away from all of that. I might do a post on my personal organization for staying on top of everything, but for the most part, it's just a balance.
I think that my personal me-time is really important. Time to get away from school or work and just focus on doing some things I like, alone.
I think that my personal me-time is really important. Time to get away from school or work and just focus on doing some things I like, alone.
Today I have for you a two-part post. First is the Me-Time Tag, and then second is my new favorite face mask.
What do you watch or read during me-time?
I like to catch up on my blogs (on a related note, follow me on Bloglovin'!), or my youtube feed. I tend to watch a lot of TV, then none. Lately I've been watching How To Get Away with Murder and the third season of House of Cards.
What do you wear during me-time?
My super fuzzy sweatpants that I've owned for forever, or my gaudy satiny pajamas. What are your me-time beauty products?
I like to go bare-faced and use some skin products like the one at the end of this post. If I'm having a leisurely soak in the tub, I'll use my Vanilla Sugar Scrub from Bath and Body Works.
Current favorite nail polish?
It's finally starting to feel like spring, so I've been using my Sally Hansen nail polishes in Jaded and Get Juiced.
What do you eat/drink during me-time?
I try to go to the gym every day but Sunday, so during me time I like to eat whatever I please. Every month or so I'll get a pint of Ben and Jerry's and pick at it for a couple of days. My current favorite is Caramel Sutra. Nom nom nom.
Current favorite candle?
I actually just finished a Peach Bellini candle from Bath and Body Works. It's my favorite and it's delicious. Peach is my favorite scent.
Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
Yes. I really enjoy hiking by myself, or just with the dog. It's quiet and peaceful and wonderful. I like hiking with a friend too, but having some alone time is nice.
Would you ever go see a movie alone?
Yes. I go to movies by myself all the time. I think that it's important to be able to do things on your own without worry what other people think of you. I like not having to worry every once in a while about whoever I'm with and whether they're having a good time and instead just focusing on the movie.
Favorite online shop?
Modcloth. Always Modcloth. I buy most of my special-occasion and going out dresses there. They have great customer service and quick shipping.
Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?
Music! They don't ask about music at all. During me-time I like to listen to Bon Iver's first album For Emma, Forever Ago. It's my favorite right now. I also really like The Arcade Fire's album The Suburbs. They're both mellow for hanging around the house.
This is a new mask that I’ve been using when my skin has been looking particularly sad and dry. It’s from Pure and Essential Minerals. It has this wonderfully light peppermint scent, but there doesn’t seem to be anything that would make it smell like that, except maybe the mud? I don’t really care, it smells great.
I put this on once a week when I do my Sunday me-time. You slap it on in an even layer, wait ten minutes for it to dry to a hard crust, and then massage it off with some water.
Using this feels so therapeutic. You put it on and it feels nicely cooling and soothing, especially after a long day. It contains natural silica that exfoliates the skin gently as you wipe the mask off. I have noticed a real difference in the way my skin looks. Blackheads are going away and my skin looks smooth and clear.
Ever since I moved away from somewhere where I had access to a Lush with their wonderful fresh face masks, I have been looking for a replacement for my beloved Love Lettuce. I think I have found it in this. I have been using this for a few weeks now and have just been so impressed. I can’t recommend it enough.
