In-Flight Makeup Bag

I’m gone for almost exactly a week, and I obviously couldn’t take everything from my makeup stash, so here’s what I brought for my days away. I divided everything up between two makeup bags, with the things I want to carry on with me, and the things that can go in the suitcase to be met up with later. The suitcase bag will be in another post, but here are my picks for my carry on.

My flight leaves early early in the morning, but I arrive in NYC in the early afternoon. Because of this schedule, I didn’t want to wear makeup that early in the morning when I was getting on the flight, but I knew that I would like to look nice when I was exiting the plane. That way I can go straight into my first day in the city. I also find that after a bunch of flying, I feel more human after I’ve got on some mascara and lipstick on.

Okay, so this is the stuff that I want on the flight. My layover is really short, so I won’t have time to fiddle with it then, but I will during the five hour flight from SLC to NYC.

The first thing I need is a good lip balm. I’m bringing this one by Malin + Goetz. It’s so good at moisturizing my lips and that’s what I need more than anything with the changing levels of humidity and the recycled air. I find that my lips always get so cracked and dry when I’m travelling unless I am so careful about babying them along the whole trip.

After I’ve taken care of the lips, the rest of my skin needs some help. I’ll be wearing the Acure Day Cream on this trip. This is by far my favorite moisturizer right now. It’s so thick and balmy and will be great for perking me up on the plane.

I don’t want to fuss around with using brushes or a beauty blender or whatever on the plane, so I’m bringing the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. I have heard people saying really mixed things about this BB Cream, but I really love it. It’s not super exceptional, but it’s a nice budget tinted moisturizer. It also blends out really well with just fingers, and gives a really natural finish.

I’m bringing my favorite Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronzer, in part because it has a mirror, and in part because the bronzer is great. I always feel like I look really pale when I’m finishing up some air travel, and this will help bring the life back into my face. I did bring my one Sephora face brush along so that I could apply this, as well as my ModelCo Peach Bellini blush. Again, adding the life back into my face.

I’m not fussing with liquid eyeliner, but I am bringing my Mally pencil eyeliner that I got in my Birchbox. I feel like when I wear eyeliner it just brings my makeup game to the next level. I also need some mascara, and I brought the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes one because it’s the current travel-size that I have on the go. Big fan, and it will do the trick for the trip.

The last thing is a lip product. I have the balm, but I want a vibrant color that I can wear off the plane and look fabulous. I’m bringing along my Revlon HD Lipstick in Peony. It’s a soft pink, but it’s just enough to make the look complete.

That’s everything from me as for what I’m bringing along on the plane. I’m really excited to have a great trip, and I’ll feel better if I step off the plane already put together.
