Taylor Swift 1989 World Tour | Denver

After recovering for a full 24 hours…because golf followed by alcohol followed by Taylor Swift followed by a lot of alcohol is not a great plan…there are a few things about the show I wanted to talk about. That said, the whole thing was AMAZING, and worth every penny.

- Vance Joy, her opening act, and famous for his hit Riptide was amazing. Pleasant and seemed to be really honored to be allowed to come on the tour.

- She said DENVER COLORADO a lot. The first couple of times it was fine, but she would always say it like that DENVER COLORADO. “I am so excited to be here in DENVER COLORADO. I just love DENVER COLORADO, don’t you DENVER COLORADO.” Yes Taylor, I’m in Denver, you’re in Denver, it’s all very exciting, now get on with the show. On that note, she did this weird audio looping of her saying DEN-VERRR over and over again, but it was high-pitched and eerie, not cute.

- She is the fastest person at costume changes. The costumes are also incredibly. Things that sparkle, things that light up, things that move with the stage.

- Her whole stage moved and lit up. During Shake It Off it was moving really fast and her people were all dancing on it like champs.

- An Enchanted/Wildest Dreams mashup was something I didn’t know I needed, but now is something I HAVE TO HAVE

- Everyone got awesome little bracelets that light up in time with the music. This was amazingly cool by itself, but this is also a big part of her motivational speech halfway through the concert. It was really cheesy, talking about how we needed to love ourselves and be generous, but it was what I needed right now. It really was uplifting, and sincere, even if she does give the same speech in every city.

- I could have done without the videos of her friends – Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, and Karlie Kloss, among others – telling me how great Taylor is throughout the show. I know that they did this so she would have time to grab some water and change her sparkly onesie, but it was unnecessary and took you out of the event. I know that Taylor is great. I got that.

- Taylor is incredibly talented at marketing and branding herself, and that is clear this entire show. I loved it. It was all amazing, and when my date and I left the show, he mentioned that he wasn’t a fan before and now definitely was. She gets to you like that, and we can argue all day about how carefully crafted a strategy that is, but in the end, it doesn’t matter. You leave thinking that it was an amazing show and that she’s an amazing person, who reached out to you even though you were sitting in the nosebleeds.

- Fireworks. Confetti. Giant light show. Awesome.

- Finally, if you get a chance to see her show, do it. It’s the most extravagantly put-together show I’ve ever seen. There has been so much attention to detail and everything is beautiful. You won’t be disappointed.
