25
I'm writing this from my parents' house in Billings while two crazy dogs run around, so please forgive me if it's a little scattered. Today, I'm 25!
Since today is kind of a big milestone, I've been thinking a lot about what I thought my life would be like when I was 25 compared to now. Up until I was finishing high school, I always thought I'd be married to a doctor (or a lawyer), owning a big house where I am struggling to keep up with the Joneses, and working an office job that's quiet but that I love doing. Seriously. That was the plan.
I'm kind of appalled at the idea now.
I don't mean any offense if that somewhat resembles your life. I think it's that, compared to what do now, that all seems so tidy. Life is, of course, not that tidy. I'm still not entirely clear what I'm doing with my life, but I feel really close this time, like only six months away close! I feel like another few months and I will have it together for the first time. At the same time, I feel like the number one sign that I'm getting it together is accepting that no one really ever gets it together, we just get better at pretending.
I think that has something to do with my starting of the podcast. It's mostly the story of how I got better at faking it.
Oh right. I forgot to announce my PODCAST. You can find some info about it in the side navigation of my blog, including the FIRST EPISODE! EEEEE! I'm really excited and nervous about it, and it's going to have it's own blog post as soon as I'm approved to be on iTunes!
Anyway, here are some things I want to legitimately say that I am good at now that I'm another year older.
- I can cook, and not that badly!
- I can put together IKEA furniture!
- I can send a thank you note, without being reminded!
- I can say no, and not feel guilty.
- I can also be said no to, and it's fine.
- I can speak in public without falling over.
- I can apologize, and mean it!
I'm proud of my accomplishments, especially in this last year of blogging. Here's to another great year of following our dreams, trying new things, and working out our problems. I'll be back with a beauty post tomorrow!
