Allure Beauty Box July
Another month! I’ve been having a great July. It’s been very stressful as our mortgage drama and wedding problems have just been ramping on up. It’s been a crazy time of year, and I feel like we’ve just been running straight into the wall. Anyway, I’m always up for some new beauty goodies, and Allure is always serving that up for me. This month’s box was in collaboration with Huda Kattan. She has 38.1 MILLION followers on Instagram, and is pretty much running her own beauty empire. She’s into some weird stuff…like vagina bleaching…but she’s beautiful, and her makeup is truly lovely. I was super excited to see what her curated box would be.
Inside my Box
The first item in the box was the an Allure Beauty Box exclusive. Huda Beauty makes some fantastic liquid lipsticks. In this bag is the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Alluring ($20). This is a brilliant orange-red color and is super bright for summer. The formula is soft and velvety. The color is much warmer than usual for me, so I’m still working on how to wear it, but it feels amazing. Next in the box is the Too Faced Hangover Primer ($4.02 value, sample size). I burnt the ever loving shit out of my face (not on purpose!!) a few days ago, and this has helped my makeup look normal on top of my peely nose. I hadn’t used this before, so I’m happy that I have it now! The other two variations of the box were an Urban Decay eyeliner (that I already have a few of) and a Benefit brow gel, but I’m married to my ABH one, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. The last “makeup” item is also from Huda, and it is the Huda Beauty Classic Lash in Samantha ($20). I’m going to level with you, I would never actually pay twenty american dollars for a pair of fake eyelashes. These eyelashes are very very nice, and they are easily reusable, but I wouldn’t buy them when there are many budget options that are just as good.
The box also contained the TonyMoly Intense Care Snail Hydrogel Mask ($10, one mask). Fun story — one time I got kicked off a brand’s PR list for referring to a product that had snail essence in it as a “snail trail extravaganza”. I don’t regret this at all. So, keeping that experience in mind, I used the mask. It was a two-price, which is always nice for a better fit. It felt really nice, and as we discussed, helped with that icky sunburn peeling. Seriously, I haven’t had a sunburn in literally ten years. But this definitely made it feel less tight and itchy! There was also the Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray ($12, travel size). I love the way everything from this brand smells. It’s like just hanging out on the beach. As for the actual spray, it’s a pretty standard hairspray. It’s not bad, but it’s nothing special other than that scent.
The last item doesn’t even count in my personal opinion. Its a little perfume sample, you know the kind they give out for free from Kayali, which is also one of Huda’s products. It smells nice, kind of like vanilla cake, but I’m not including it in the price of the box because it’s so dinky.
The overall total value of this box is a little less than $66.02. For a box that costs (full price) $15, that’s not bad, but last month’s box had a value of significantly more at $88! It’s hard to judge if Allure is worth it when the months can be so up and down. All things in, this is a good value for $15. I am also continually impressed and will get a lot of use out of this box.
