April Allure Beauty Box Review
Happy April! I have been mostly MIA because of a horrible throat infection that really knocked me down. We’re talking days off of work, unable to talk, in some pretty severe pain. It’s been really rough. Really rough. The past couple of days of sitting in bed, feeling like I was dying, was really only broken up by getting mail. I had ordered a lot of things for the wedding, and it’s been fun to open up some packages. I was super pleasantly surprised that my April Allure Box rolled in days earlier than normal.
Inside my Box
The first item in the box was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood ($20). I was really excited to see that a big-name brand (among a couple) were included in this box. This is also a super-hyped product. This color is pretty hard to pull off. I had seen photos on Instagram that showed it was very light, but it was concealer-lips to the extreme on me. I don’t think that’s impossible, but I’ll have to work on ways to wear it, because my lips are gone the second I put it on. Picture attached for reference.
There was another rbig name brand in this box, namely the Natasha Denona Mono Eye Shadow in 124K Bronzage ($27). Oooookay team. I was really interested in trying some shadows from Natasha Denona, but the price is crazy. There better be real gold in every single shadow for it to cost $27. Is this shadow fantastic? Yes. It’s sparkling orange and is so flattering. It blends out in the most beautiful way. But it’s twenty. seven. dollars. There are lots of other eyeshadows that are brilliant and that don’t cost nearly that much. Beautiful, but not worth the cost. To help blend out that pretty eyeshadow, this box included the Luxie 231 Small Tapered Blending Brush ($12). Luxie brushes are some of my favorites. They’re soft and blend wonderfully, including tthe Natasha Denona shadow.
I was loving that my box included so many color products, including the Laura Geller Inkcredible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Brown Eyed Girl ($22). This pencil has incredible stay(ng power, but can also smudge out for a pretty smoky look before it sets down. It’s gorgeous and I have been loving how easy it is to throw on the waterline and just not worry about it.
There were so many hits in this box, there has to be a miss, right? Enter the Vita Liberata phenomenal Organic Tan Infused Cloths ($6.25 for two). This is just not my thing. First, this turned out pretty streaky and orange. Not a huge fan of that. Second, it said these wouldn’t have a smell. That’s a lie. Between both of these, I’m not interested in this at all. Total miss, and I’m fine embracing my paleness.
Last item is the Briogeo Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection & Heat Protectant Creme ($4.47). I don’t often blow dry my hair, because curly hair problems, but this works really well at taking down the frizz. It has helped bring down the flyaways that I usually assoiate with taming down my hair during heat treating. I generally really like Briogeo, and this is no exception.
The overall total value of this box is a little less than $91.72. This is one of the better-value boxes that I’ve gotten from Allure. These products were high value and things that I am excited and interested to try. All things in, this is a good value for $15. I am also continually impressed and will get a lot of use out of this box. If you want your own Allure Beauty Box ($10 to start, $15 each month after!) you can sign up here!
