No More Dry Lips!
For those of you following along at home, I moved a few months ago from Montana to Northern Minnesota. I thought the winters there made me an expert in dry and flaky skin all winter (gross, I know), but it didn’t. It’s only November and I’m already struggling with my typical winter dryness….times ten.
The place that I feel it is my lips. Dry, cracking, painful…and sometimes it feels like nothing is going to help. Lip balm helps, but I struggled to find the one that would make a difference to me. Enter Lypsyl. It’s a brand I used a few winters ago (#polarvortex) and immediately turned to as things started to get bad here. It’s my favorite when I need a lot of moisture, and I need it to last. Two days after I started using this a few times a day, and no more dry skin!
This is minty, so I was initially concerned that it would irritate my already sensitive skin. Nope! It has a slight tingling sensation when I first apply it, but it isn’t too strong at all. It’s more refreshing than overwhelming, which is a delicate balance when it comes to strong scents. The application is smooth and silky, and I can feel it protecting my lips for a couple of hours before I feel like I need to put more on. Bonus fact? Not tested on animals, ever.
At this time of the year, I also love matte lipstick, and I can’t see that changing anytime soon. Red matte lips are pretty much a winter staple when I’m trying to run around to parties after work and need a lip that will stay in place. You will also know that matte lipsticks can be very unforgiving if things are getting a little dry. I have been putting on a lot of the Lypsyl, doing the rest of my makeup, blotting it, then putting on my lipstick. Fantastic.
If you want this too, you can get it for the reasonable price of $2.99 at Walmart or Meijer’s (we don’t have those here, though ☹). Less than three dollars? I’m stashing these everywhere.
Your turn! What’s your favorite drug store lip balm?
