Freshening Up Your House
Okay, it’s spring cleaning time. How is that going? I’ll be honest, here it’s going great. Mostly because I’m preparing for a summer of travel and two out-of-state weddings, one of which is mine (eek!). Either way, it’s given me the kick in the pants that I need to get our house feeling a little rejuvenated.
Add a new indoor plant.
Spring is the time for green. I love adding plants to the house at this time of the year. Especially because over the winter I killed all of the plants we might have had before…anyway! I got a really cute calla lily plant at my wedding shower, and it’s happily living on our window sill. It brightens up the whole place.
Switch out scents.
Another thing I like to do to kick the house over into spring is to swap out our more “winter” scents into spring ones. It’s as easy as picking out floral candles instead of amber or musky ones. Right now, I’m burning a coconut one from Bath and Body Works that I just love! Charles is really picky about scents, so we love going to the Bath and Body Works so that he can try them out before we commit.
Swap sheets.
One of my favorite things is to slide into my bed and into a new set of soft, crisp sheets. I recently got a set of bamboo sheets from Linenly that have really been lovely to use. Bamboo is a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly material compared to cotton, especially when you look at water and energy use. They’re also organic! I can’t recommend these enough!
Happy spring! What are you doing to brighten up your house?
