Allure Beauty Box November

November! It’s cold. I’m cold. But I’m ready for some cute new beauty pretties. Last month wasn’t bad by any means, but I was hoping for something better. And I got it! Let’s take a look at what showed up.

Inside my Box

The first item in the box was (excited!) a full-size Tarte Color Splash Lipstick in Yachting ($21). There were a few different colors that were popping up this month, but this one is distinctively fall to me. It’s a beautiful deep berry that pulls just gently purple on me. It’s the perfect color for fall and into the winter. It’s an extremely creamy, vegan formula, that seriously stays in place. I’m a teacher, so I can promise you that this does stay put and look good. The judgmental teenagers would tell me if it didn’t. Last thing — the packaging on this, although a little cheap feeling (it’s light plastic), looks very pretty and aesthetically pleasing in my makeup bag. Very happy with this one!

This box was also very skincare heavy. First, the Curology Clean Sweep Cleanser (hard to say….this has no size, and is only available online as a set for $19.95). I like this cleanser, but I’ll admit that I’m not interested in needing to purchase it as a set with a moisturizer and a prescription cream. It seems like something I don’t need. I go through cleanser the most anyway. Don’t most people? Anyway. This is a cleanser. It makes your face clean. It doesn’t have a scent. It takes off my makeup. Part of me said “what the hell” and ordered the free month that came with this box (that was the perk) so look for that after I’ve used it up. But like…so far, nothing to write home about.

Last month, I received some peel pads to exfoliate the skin, but they were from a brand I hadn’t heard of. This month, more! These are the bliss that’s incredipeel pads ($6.67 for 5). These were cheaper than the other ones, and they’re from a brand I like and trust. These are a lot less harsh and don’t burn quite as much. It does contain that AHA compound that notoriously causes sun sensitivity. At this time of year, it’s too cold for me to go out without some kind of cream on though, so that’s helpful. Although not as strong as the others, I think this is better for me. It’s better for my skin in terms of using every day. If I were to repurchase, I’d do these, not those.

For some more peeling, I also received the Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask ($4 value). It seemed a little aggressive to include this much peel time in one box, but that’s okay, I’m not mad. This isn’t a perfectly smooth consistency. when I rub it on it feels…gritty. It says it claims volcanic rock for exfoliation. I can’t see that. It’s a little gritty, but not like that. I think that’s a gimmick if anything. The things doing the real heavy lifting are the AHAs, just like in the rub-on wipes from Bliss. The directions say to put on a thin layer, wait five minutes and rinse off. It smells like a spa and is a little bit of cooling. I didn’t notice a huge difference, but I will use it up and report. I need all the anti-flakiness I can get after this winter.

Moooore skincare! Last one. I got the Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($52.90 for this sample size are you fucking kidding me what the actual fuck). I’ve gotten this before but suddenly missed the price I guess. I have never liked any eye cream enough to $115 on it. Any makeup item, for that matter. It’s fine. I feel like I don’t go through eye creams very fast, but I’ll add it to the rotation. It’s fine. That’s all.

Last! A makeup item. I already have this and have been using it regularly. It’s the E.L.F. Poreless Putty Primer ($8, full size). I had picked this up because it was alleged a dupe for the $52 Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer. I have been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation and it needs a primer. This has done the trick and I’m so happy with it. At the rate I’m using it up, I’m happy to have a backup. Something that I do really like is how this melts into my skin like butter, and then suddenly all my pores are gone. It’s not greasy and looks amazing.

The overall total value of this box is a little less than $92.57. For a box that costs (full price) $15, that’s not bad, but this is the lowest value I’ve ever gotten in an Allure Box! I thought last month was the lowest at $55-ish, so it can dip down that low. It’s hard to judge if Allure is worth it when the months can be so up and down. All things in, this is a good value for $15. I am also continually impressed and will get a lot of use out of this box.
