Product Review: TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray
As noted in previous blogs...my hair is ridiculous. It's brown, a good deal past my shoulders now, and curly, frizzy, and terrible. The curly, frizzy, terribleness of it gets worse when I try to use heated tools on it, like a blow dryer, curling iron, or straightener, because it becomes dry and damaged. Don't get me wrong, it will straighten or form nice curling-iron curls, but it takes a lot of effort and time, which just isn't fun for anyone.
Usually this isn't a problem, but now it's winter, and I simply can't just run off to class with my hair wet, because it's dang cold outside.
I'd seen a few youtubers use this heat protectant, and I figured that it couldn't hurt a whole lot to give it a try. I toddled off to the Walmart, and bought a bottle, which ran me about $6.
The back of the bottle says that it "guards against heat and friction to keep you hair shiny and incredibly soft". It also says to hold the bottle 6-8 inches away and spray on the ends of your hair. Simple enough.
After using it for a couple weeks, I can already tell the difference. My hair is healthier, and shinier, and it even blow dries faster. I also have noticeably less breakage, and my hair is much easier to style, and I need fewer other products to get the look that I want. I'm very happy with the results. I also like that the spray bottle has a lock on it so that it doesn't spray all over your bag when you're travelling or spending the night elsewhere, which is also awesome. It also has that salon smell, which I find really nice :) It also gave me increased volume, which I didn't really need, but I know that a lot of girls are looking for.
The only thing that I didn't like about it was that although it claimed to make your hair soft, I didn't find that it felt that way. My hair looked soft, but had a feeling that was almost like spun glass, like sort of coarse. I don't really know why it did that, because it looked like it would be soft, but it really wasn't. It was still touchable however, and doesn't give you the crunchiness of hairspray or cheaper mousses.
In short, good product, but makes your hair feel odd to the touch. For $6, it's great. Definitely something to try. I would rate it 8/10.
