Lush Sexy Peel Soap Review
There’s a new Lush store opening at the mall near my house,
and I am so excited! Currently, I’m working retail at the mall, and the Lush team
from the not-yet-opened store stopped by. They talked up a storm about all the
great new plans they had and great products that they’d be rolling out soon,
and then they gave me some samples!
The product in question is Sexy Peel soap, which is “a sexy
citrus soap to clean dirty bodies”. 3.5 ounces goes for $5.95 on Lush.com. Like
I said, mine was free. I’m unsure if I would pay that much for it though, especially after the quality that I've experienced. It
certainly has a strong citrus smell. You know Lemon Pledge? Like the wood
cleaner? Yeah. Just like that. I mean a dead ringer. When you’ve finished using
it, you also have a vaguely pledge-like smell as well. I don’t like that at
all. It contains real chunks of orange peel, so every once in a while, as you’re
washing with the bar, a chunk will fall out. The pieces are too big to really
do anything with, so they just fall down my drain. I’m not really sure why they’re
in there. It doesn’t lather up at all, rather forming a greasy residue across
your skin. This is somewhat common in natural soaps though, so I was
unsurprised. Still, it wasn’t pleasant. The residue remained through three
rinsing as well. It also has the general appearance of mouldy cheese sitting
on my counter. The soap is also rather drying. I don’t think I would use it
unless I had very oily skin. Even after just a couple washes, I already could
feel the drying in my hands.
See? Moldy Cheese! Oh wait. That's Sexy Peel Soap. |
I suppose the general gist is that I won’t be purchasing
this. I'm sure they have a lot of other great products, but this isn't one of them. At least not for me. If you have oily skin it may be worth a try!
