Everything is different; nothing has changed

After a lovely week spent at home, it’s time to get back to the real world. I have to get back to work and school, and being an adult. The worst part of the vacation is always the end, where you have to start your old life back up. Especially on PEI, it reminds me of the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings, where you get home and everything is different, but nothing has changed. The people are the same. I ran into seven people I knew at the grocery. The places are the same. Last time I was home there was a huge fire, but identical buildings have replaced them. But something is different. The only thing I can think of is that it must be me. Something to consider in a profound way, I suppose.

Today was the day spent getting ready to go back home. Spending time with family, mostly. I stayed at home with my niece and nephew, where my niece beat me at Monopoly for the first time completely fairly. She’s getting ruthless. After that it was family dinner, and then packing up the things I need to take back with me. While I was here, we picked up binders and paper and ink and the sorts of things I like to have for the back-to-school times.

Thanks for humoring all of my vacation posts, and you’ll be back to your regular old Cait tomorrow. Cheers!
