Lush Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask
I had meant to blog about this ages ago, but it got buried in my work pile! Here's one final Lush review from the last thing I bought before my spending ban came into effect!
I’m recently a convert to Lush. I hadn’t spent much time in
one before, and then I spent hours in one the other day, getting acquainted
with everything. After my more-than-wonderful time with the bath bombs, it was
time to try something else. When I was at Lush the other day, I picked up a tub
of Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask. It’s a 2.1 oz. (60g) jar, so it’s definitely
got enough product for a few facials. You can’t buy this online; you must
purchase it in-store. This is because, as the name implies, it is made fresh
and only has a three week lifespan before it expires. I’ve never had a Lush
face mask before, but I’m pretty sure that you don’t want to use it after that. To keep them nice and
fresh, you are supposed to keep the refrigerated, and right now, it’s the best
feeling in the world to come home after a hot summer day and put on the cool
mask.
After work today, I was in one of those moods. Hot,
flustered, and exhausted from my day. In short, the perfect day for a facial. I got home and nearly literally scraped
off today’s accumulation of makeup. The tub says to apply to clean skin,
avoiding the eyes. Leave it on 5-10 minutes, and then massage off with warm
water. So I slapped it on. It goes on nice and tidy, and really does feel like
it’s sinking into the skin, as opposed to just hanging around on top. It also
starts to get tighter after about a minute. It doesn’t tingle or burn, but it
sets up like cement. Beth kept making me laugh, and it was really uncomfortable
with all the restrictions placed on my face. Not really pleasant at all.
However, the momentary displeasure was replaced with
gratification as soon as it was rinsed off. The mask comes off very cleanly,
without residues. I was a little worried about it tinting my skin green, but it
didn’t. I took it off with a clean cloth in warm water, rubbing gently in
circles, massaging it off. The skin left behind was brighter, flake-free, and
noticeably more radiant. As kind of an interesting side effect, it brought all
of my soon-to-be blemishes to the surface, which made them much easier to
spot-treat, so I’m really looking forward to a week (or more!) of clear skin.
I’m just so pleased with this product. Couldn’t be happier,
really. I was initially a little worried when I read online that it is better
suited to oily/combination skin types, whereas I am definitely in the
desert-dry category. It’s done a great job though. It cleared up any flakes
that I had wonderfully. I’m thinking this might be a regular use product for me!
It has a nice lavender scent, but it’s a lot earthier too. It reminds me of
that humid smell you get off of a freshly mown lawn. I think that it might be
the fuller’s earth in the mask, but I’m not sure. It has a lot of great ingredients
like that in it though: honey, as an antiseptic, almonds, as an abrasive agent,
and kaolin, to remove impurities, among others. It does not, surprising contain
lettuce.
I’m definitely going to use this mask up, to the last little
bit, and then probably get some more. I have yet to find another product that
does the brightening and exfoliating of my face that this mask does. Do you
guys have a favorite Lush product? Have you tried their face masks? Is there
one I should use next? Let me know!
