Covergirl Flipstick Eye Look?

Today, I've got something a little different. Do you remember in the first Glossybox I ever received, I got this Covergirl Flipstick in Minx. If you don't recall, you can refresh your memory here. It wasn't something that I liked. It was dark brown in colour, and pretty much unwearable. I had done a little googling and had heard somewhere that it is safe to put on your eyes as well, so I figured I'd give it a go. Unfortunately, my camera has been a little fritzy lately, and my phone doesn't do so well at photographing my eye. I am going to warn you, the photos make it look a little bit not good, but it looks extra nice in person. Really, I'm just happy to find a use for my flipstick.

For this look, I used an eye primer from Sally Beauty, Covergirl Flipstick in Minx (shade 855), NYC Mod Quad in Get Down Browns, Almay Intense I-colour powder shadow trio for hazels, and Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Brown Smoulder.

The first thing to do is to prep the eye. Flipsticks weren't made for staying power on the eye, so this is important to make sure it will last all day. You can do this with an eyelid primer (like I did), or even a foundation or concealer if you don't. Next, I took the bronzey/gold side of the flipstick and did a coat of it across my whole lid.

Nice gold-ish colour!

All over the lid!
Taking the other side of the flipstick (the dark one), I made a 'V', applying it to my crease, as well as down along my upper lash line. This will give it a smokier appearance later. I then blended it out.

Nice dark brown.

Pre-blending...it looks really dark here.
As I mentioned earlier, this isn't going to stay very well. A way to help that is to set it with some powder. Using my NYC Mod Quad, I used just the bronze shade to set the gold part of my eye, packing it on. The pictures for this part didn't turn out, so you'll just have to trust me that this is the right thing to do.

Use this colour, or one similar. Any bronzey-gold will do.
I used Covergirl's Brown Smoulder to do the same thing where I had put the darker colour, holding it in place.

This is my favourite brown shadow. You can use it for anything!

Finally, this eye is looking pretty dark by now. I brightened it up using the highlight shade from the Almay Trio for Hazels, applying it to the inner corner, as well as to the brow bone. If you want a little extra pop, you could even highlight right in the centre of your lid.

This lovely fellow here.
Finish with eyeliner and mascara, if you'd like, and you're done! I got a lot of compliments on this look when I wore it out. I also find that it transitions day to night really well. If you noticed as well, everything I used came from the drugstore. I didn't really do that intentionally, but it's a pleasant surprise for sure.
