Illamasqua Nail Polish in Noble
It's not often that I splurge on something that's redonk high end. I don't see the point usually. There are a few exceptions, but I usually really research and think about what I'm buying, and give myself a lot of time to talk myself out of purchasing something.
I've been thinking about getting some Illamasqua nail polish for a long time. But at about $18 a bottle, I'm not so sure. Is it honestly going to be any better than my four or six dollar bottles?
The short answer is no.
I didn't end up buying it. My roommate Beth did though. She succumbed to the Illamasqua. The colour she picked up was Noble.
It comes in a tidy retangular box, with a little window in the front for you to see the colour through. The packaging is really quite lovely. Noble is a bright tealy blue. Beth said her fingers "looked like the ocean". I can't help but agree. It's beautiful. It's also pretty long wearing...like four days without chips. Not the greatest, but not the worst either.
That's where the fun stops though. It takes a long time to dry, so painting the two coats required to get a fully opaque look takes a long time. The consistency is also quite gloopy. You have to shake the bottle well and even then it's sketchy at best. It was really disappointing.
I'm not turned off the brand entirely, but I'll definitely be thinking twice about their nail polishes in the future. If you like the colour, Sally Hansen has one I've seen called "Sky" I think, that looks about the same, but for a lot less.
Have you ever been disappointed by something you splurged on?
