Primetime Emmy's Fashion Recap
Last Sunday was the Primetime Emmy Awards. I like this
significantly better than the VMAs because I recognize both the shows and the
people. The show itself was a little bit awful. It was lively enough to keep my
attention, but I wouldn’t say it was entertaining. Breaking Bad won,
predictably, as did Modern Family. There was also a lot of boring fashion.
Plain was in, and that was disappointing. Here’s who impressed me the most.
Red was the big colour that night, as evidenced by Sofia Vergara (Modern Family), looking stunning as
ever. Her presentation speech was the only one that I really laughed at. She
also contrasted the crimson mermaid gown with emerald jewellery, hitting on a
big trend for autumn.
It is not easy to look red-carpet fantastic when you’re
about to pop out a baby. Morena Baccarin (Homeland) looked ready to explode, but pulled it
off so well with her empire waist dress with rhinestone detail. I loved her geometric
bag too!
Tina Fey (30 Rock) was looking fantastic. Her dress was plain, but it
fit really well and she looked stunning. I thought it was age appropriate for
her.
Usually, Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) is a big fashion faux-pas, but she got
it right! A deeper red than was seen, she was hitting the burgundy/oxblood
trend, and brought the best accessory – a sharp-dressed man.
I was conflicted about Sarah Hyland (Modern Family). I love the dress, and
the matching jewellery. I think it’s amazing. I wouldn’t have gone with such
slicked-back hair personally. The dress is great though!
Some more red! Kelly Osborne’s dress had a spangled back
that was really played up the otherwise plain silhouette. The dress itself was a Jenny Packham, which is one of Duchess Kate's favorite designers. I’m still not a fan
of the grey/purple hair thing, but she looked classy.
My ultimate favorite for the night was Kerry Washington (Scandal). There wasn't anything about this that i didn't like. From the hair to the dress to the shoes, she looked amazing.
With awards season ramping up in just a few short months, hopefully things will be a little bit more exciting. Who was your favorite?
