Balea Face Mask: Part 2 (the final, terrible part)

I wasn't going to post this, but I got an email asking why my Balea Face Mask posts hadn't continued past #1. Welllll...this is why.

I tried out another Balea face mask the other day. After my not-too-bad experience with my last one, I thought that this one would also be just dandy. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

This mask, much like the other one, was said to be moisturising. You paint it on however you do, leave it on for ten minutes, then rinse off. Easy peasy.

I always do a test patch on my arm of any new product that I use, and this was no exception. I put a little on and waited ten minutes, and nothing happened. No skin reaction, no problem. So I started putting it on my face.

Everything seemed fine in the beginning. I had enough time to snap a couple selfies, but then it all went wrong. All of a sudden, my face felt like it was on fire. It was a really intense burning sensation. I immediate threw my whole body into the shower to get it off as fast as I could.

About 5 seconds before the explosion happened.

The good news is that it stopped hurting as soon as it was washed off. The bad news is that my skin was in pretty bad shape. Along the top of my eyebrow, the skin had split and was bleeding. The parts of my face that the mask had sat on the longest (mostly along both cheekbones) was really bright red and painful, like a sunburn.

Unflattering, yo. But yeah. Super painful.
So unpleasant.

Well.

That’s the end of my relationship with Balea. I doubt that I'll be buying anything else from them. I can’t really risk that happening again. The good thing about this is that it didn’t take too long to heal. The next day, the sunburn-like effect was gone. Thank god. This is the first time that I’ve had a skin reaction even after doing a test patch, which certainly makes me a little bit more wary about putting things on my face.

Has anything like this ever happened to you?
