Blogmas #12: Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel Appliques in Jeweled Noir
So tonight I am going to see an advance screening of The
Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. I can’t really convey how excited I am. I
liked the first one, but this one has a
dragon, so it immediately must be better. My friend Jenn and I are going to the IMAX 3D one, so I am sure it
will be overwhelming in the best way possible.
When there’s a big movie event like this that already has a
lot of fans going in, there are sure to be people dressed up like the
characters. I’m a big fan...but not that big a fan. Still, I’d like to do
something a little bit topical.
I recently received a pack of Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel
Nail Appliques in Jeweled Noir and immediately thought that they would be
perfect for a Smaug the Dragon inspired look.
I’ve used the Revlon nail appliqués before (you can check
that out here), and they’re really easy to use. They peel off and stick on
quite firmly onto the nail, and stay that way for more than a week. To make
mine last extra long, I do seal up the tip with a topcoat.
The pack of appliqués includes 18 stickers of various sizes,
a nail file, and a push-stick that is useful for moving your cuticles, as well
as smoothing out the appliqués. Putting them on was a real breeze, and because
they don’t need to dry, you can slap them on really quickly.
As well, Marchesa is one of my favourite couture designers
pretty consistently. Around awards season (coming up soon!) a lot of stars can
be seen in their designs and they are always the most beautiful clothes. Revlon
has several other Marchesa designs out there besides this one, and you can bet
that I’ll be picking some more up soon! I think that they would be really great
for Christmas parties or New Years or to use for accent nails like I did here. You can find these at most drugstores for about $10.

For my Smaug-inspired look, I paired the nail appliqués with
a black polish, Revlon’s Blackest Black, by coincidence, to match the darkness
of his caverns under the lonely mountain. In Smaug’s lair, he also has many
jewels, shown by the red, silver, and gold 3D gems in the stick on appliqués. The
red gems particularly pop, like Smaug’s red scales. I can’t wait to show these
off to my friends at the movie tonight.
In today’s advent calendar, I got a Total Moisture facial
cream.
I actually have another one of these that I have been using, and it
never hurts to have more. It has a really light, fresh scent, and it’s never
too heavy.
As a forewarning, I'm going to be talking about the Hobbit tomorrow. If you want to skip that, I won't be offended.
Have you ever dressed
up for a movie showing?
Disclaimer: The nail appliques were provided by Revlon for use, all other nail polishes used in this look were purchased by me.
