Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream
BB creams (beauty
balms, beblesh balms, whatever) are still very much in vogue in right now, and
can be found almost anywhere. Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream is the
newest in the long line of BB creams. I am going to be honest, I think that this
is a little extraneous. I think that by stressing out over perfecting your
whole body you’re moving into an unhealthy mindset. Don’t get me wrong, I use a
ton of products on myself, but I feel like we need to draw the line before
dipping our whole bodies in foundation. Still, I thought I would give this a
go. It is nearly shorts season (although sometimes it's still winter in Canada), and I wanted to feel at least a little ready. I've got some problems with my legs, notably some pretty wicked scarring that has caused some discolouration. I was hopeful that this might help mask some of that. It's not enough for me to be self-concious about, but making it better is always better.
This product
claims to show five visible benefits in five days. It says that it will
hydrate, illuminate, even, firm, and correct. Did it do all five of these
things? No, not really. This product is incredibly hydrating. It is one of the
most moisturizing lotions that I have ever used. When you put it on, you can
feel the difference. This comes in two skin tone-ish colors, one for light skin
tones and one for darker ones. I found that it didn’t provide any kind of coverage
at all, so I didn’t see any evening of skin tone or anything that could be
considered correcting. It doesn’t
change the tone of your skin any more than a normal lotion would. BB Cream to me implies some sort of coverage, but there isn't any of that here.
I think that
any time something claims to be firming for the skin that they’re lying to you. Moisturized skin feels better, and if you consider
that to be firmer then that’s great,
but I don’t think that's accurate. You could say the same thing about illuminating. I don’t think it’s a category of its own, but I would
say that healthy skin looks better. I think that they're just stretching out their claims more than they should be.
As a
moisturizer, it’s excellent. It’s thick, but absorbs quickly. It doesn’t have
much of smell, kind of like shea butter if anything, and it isn’t powerful
enough to notice after a few minutes. If you are looking for a highly
moisturizing cream, this is it for you. If you’re looking for more than that,
you should look elsewhere.
I've been using this for the full five days that you're supposed to before you see visible benefits, and I can't tell a significant difference. It certainly doesn't perform better than even my regular Vaseline lotion. I tried to take before and after photos, but you honestly can't tell a difference.
Would I recommend this? Probably not. I think that you can get a moisturizer that
is just as good without all the run-around.
