Pantene Pro-V Root Reboot Dry Shampoo
I am always fairly sceptical
about drug store hair products. They are very hit and miss and it takes a while
to find something that works really consistently for me. Pantene has been one
of these hit and miss brands. I have never found a shampoo or conditioner with
them that I have been satisfied with. It occurred to me that since I moved, I
hadn’t purchased any dry shampoo. This was an error that needed to be corrected
because it makes my life so much easier to just have a can on hand. I bought
the Pantene Pro-V Root Reboot Dry Shampoo mostly because it was on sale
(literally a couple of dollars) and thought that it would last until I could find
something I liked better. I’m still on the hunt for Batiste in brown, but no
luck so far.
Anyway, I have been shockingly
impressed with Root Reboot. It’s made out of tapioca starch, which is great
at not turning your hair grey. Tapioca starch is second only to rice starch in
my hierarchy of dry shampoos. I haven’t had problems yet with the dreaded grey
streak.
I use dry shampoo mostly to
extend my hair an extra day when it really needs a wash, but I do want the
occasional boost of texture. This works well for both of those purposes. It
also amps you up with a ton of volume, which helps make my hair look much
cleaner than it actually is. It does make your hair less touchable, so if you’re
a hair-toucher, maybe this one isn’t for you. I still like it, and think that
it’s one of the best dry shampoos I’ve tried, especially for the drugstore.
It isn’t all sunshine and roses
though. The packaging on this is really awful. The nozzle is really cheap and
gets stuck every once in a while. I can see it being a major design flaw that
needs to be fixed. It also smells so strongly. My hair is oily, but it doesn't smell funny, so I don't need to spray it down with Febreze. The smell doesn't go away, so people will notice.
Other than that, I’m impressed.
If you want a dry shampoo and only want to spend $5, try this one. It’s pretty
good.
