Favorites June 2014
MAC Kinda Sexy Lipstick has become my new go-to. It stays on
in the feels-like-a-hundred degree heat and is cute. The matte coral-orange
color is really flattering and perfectly on trend for summer. If the matte finish isn't your thing, I like to pair it with Benefit's Dandelion lip gloss for a little shine.
At the end of the day, I don’t want to spend a ton of time
taking all of my makeup off. Two products make this easier. First is the Cargo
Better Than Waterproof Mascara. It stays on like a waterproof mascara all day,
but when it’s time to come off, it’s a one swipe deal. Waterproof mascara is a must for me, but if I can get the same
effect without the harshness, I’m going to do it.
The other thing that has really been helping is the
Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes. I had used these some time ago and wasn’t
smitten. I’ve been using Simple ever since. However, these were on offer at the
Costco and I picked some up. With the changing weather, I find that these are
just better getting off that icky layer of sweat and makeup from my day. I don’t
know what it is, but these just leave my skin feeling cleaner than my beloved
Simple Makeup Wipes. I can’t call them my Holy Grail wipes anymore.
The nail color that I’ve been rocking most this month is
Sally Hansen’s I Lilac You. I have been wearing it frequently, paired with
Sally Hansen’s Strobe Light as a ring-finger accent. The cool tone is really great
for summer and I’ve been getting a load of compliments on it.
In terms of non-beauty favorites, this month I have really
been loving the World Cup. It’s been taking over my TV and it’s my favorite
topic of conversation. I have a hierarchy of teams I support. First, Germany.
Germany is my team and always has been. Next is the Netherlands, then third is
Brazil. I’m so happy that all three of my favorites are still in the running,
and I know that the final is going to be a big deal no matter what.
This month I have also been really digging Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by
Therese Ann Fowler. I’m not technically done yet, but I am zipping through. I
have it on 14-day loan from the library, so I’m cranking through it as fast as
I can. It’s been really good so far. They were one of the first big celebrity
couples. I also am a big Gatsby fan (the book, not the crap movie, sorry Leo)
so it’s interesting to read more about the lives behind the book. I didn’t know
a lot about Zelda, and it’s cool to get into her head. I recommend.
But not everything was great this month. I thought I’d throw
in a fail.
Sadly the Pantene Root Reboot Dry Shampoo that I loved so
much when I wrote about it is not in my good books anymore. The formula is
still great, but the packaging...oh that packaging. I went to use it yesterday and the nozzle was
broken. I didn’t drop it or anything. It just…didn’t work. After some googling,
this is a common issue. Still, I want more than two weeks of use out of any
product.
That's my favorites for this month/2 months/until I do this next. I'm sorry about the photo quality. My DSLR is currently in Poland, but I'm hoping to have it back soon. :)
