Testing Pinterest: Pumpkin Dump Cake

Welcome to my newest (sporadic) series: testing Pinterest. I'll be trying out Pinterest recipes and crafts and sharing my hopefully-not fails.

I've seen a ton of recipes for “dump cakes” where you don't have to do much mixing. You layer the ingredients in your rectangular cake pan and it magically turns out fine.

I was perusing Pinterest and I saw this pin:

It leads you to this website. We followed the recipe exactly, except for the topping, we didn't use graham crackers or toffee. Instead, we used some chopped nuts. It was still super tasty.

I love easy recipes and I love pumpkin, so this seemed like a great idea.

You make up a pumpkin pie-ish filling, dump that in the bottom of a pan. Dump a box of cake mix over the top (yeah, the dry mix). Then you dump some butter and chopped pecans on the top. Bake that business and you're done.
The verdict: this is really tasty. Like eat a whole pan tasty. Unfortunately, it's awful for you. I don't want to know the nutrition facts on this. I just don't want to know. That's the only thing that is stopping me from making it again. It also looks exactly like the photo above. No false advertising there.
