Old Factory Holiday Candle Trio
It’s
that time of the year. It’s chilly (although unseasonably warm here
for December), and everyone is busy, so you just want to sit on your
sofa with a warm cup of cider, a blanket, and a book. It is the
season for candles. I love it when my house smells like I’ve been
slaving all day over pumpkin pies and gingerbread men, but that just
isn’t realistic. Best solution? Burn some candles. Preferably some
with a nice smell to give your house some ambiance.
I
have some definite preferences when it comes to my wax. I have nearly
no sense of smell, so they have to smell strongly enough that I can
enjoy the fragrance, but not so strongly as to put off other people.
The scent also can’t smell too artificial. The closer to reality,
the better. I also prefer soy candles. Paraffin candles can
release carcinogens into the air. Whether the effect of this is
serious or not is still under scientific scrutiny, but for now,
better safe than sorry.
When
these candles from Old Factory landed on my step, I was excited to
try them out. Handmade in the USA, these seem right up my alley. All
natural ingredients, adorable vintage-inspired packaging, and themed
trios of candles? Perfect.
The
trio I received was named “Happy Holidays”, although there is no
shortage of different sets for any season or occasion. It came with
three wonderful winter scents: Gingerbread, Christmas tree, and Candycane.
These
were so much better than I expected. Although smaller than I had
anticipated, they last for a long time. I’ve been burning the
Christmas tree one forever and it doesn’t show
much wear. The packaging says 20 hours and I am certain that I will
get every second of that.
These
candles are sold exclusively on Amazon, and the set of three retails
for $25, comparable to several other candle brands. They really do
have every scent you could possibly want with sets that range from
Fall Harvest and Fresh & Clean to the more risque
choices of Romance or Fifty Shades (that one has shades
named Leather and Vanilla Sex). As well, if you have a boyfriend,
husband, or male friends who hang around a lot, you don't really want
your home to smell overpoweringly girly, and you don't get that with
these. Subtle, delightful, and well worth the order.
Red
Rover, the company who makes the candles, also seems to have really
great customer service. They promise you'll be happy and I'm sure
that's true. They really bend over backwards to make sure you have a
good experience, and if there's anything that endears me to a
company, it's great service.
If
you'd like to win a set of Old Factory Candles, I'm running a twitter
