April Glossybox Sneak Peak (And a Giveaway!)
Hi everyone!
Today I have an unboxing of the April Glossybox. It’s a really, really great box and I’m excited to share it with you. I’ve had this box for a couple of days now, so I can tell you a little about how I like these products.
Okay, first things first, look at this box! I love the pop art girl on the front. It’s so cute! I’m definitely going to be keeping this box around. It’s the most fun box, and it definitely fits my style. I’m excited to reuse this.
Then you open it up and you have five great products, plus a special extra makeup bag, and the product card that tells you what everything is.
So, the makeup bag is right on top, and was made in conjunction with Thursday Friday. Inside of the makeup bag is a gift card to the Thursday Friday site that gives you a percentage off. You can’t tell how much it is until you get to the checkout though. I ordered a tote bag and my card was worth 50% off! Great deal. The makeup bag is also really sturdy and I like the lip motif. It’s also a really good size to throw into a purse when you’re on the go.
So, let’s talk about the products a little bit.
First in the bag is the Marrakesh Endz Split End Mender and Preventer.
Lengthen the time between haircuts with this powerful blend of nutrient-rich argan oil, fortifying hemp see oil and hydrolyzed wheat protein. It tames, repairs and seals damaged split ends, while offering long-lasting frizz and static control.
The full size costs $5.99, and this is the full size. I’m in between hair cuts, so this was a godsend. You use this on damp hair, and leave it in. It smells divine and makes my hair feel tamed and held together without weighing it down. I find that it works best on the days when I’m going to leave my hair curly, but it’s still really good on straight hair days.
The next product is the Aerin Waterlily Sun.
Welcome to spring with a fresh, floral blend from the effortless beauty brand. Meant to capture the feeling of sunlight reflecting on the water, this fragrance features bright Sicilian bergamot and lush dewy greens, balanced with delicate waterlily, jasmine sambac and warm musk.
The full size is $110, and this sample is worth $19.41. I love that this is a little dinky perfume instead of one of the two-use throwaway ones. The packaging on this is also lovely. I really like the scent of this too. It’s light and floral, while still not too sickly sweet. The musk undertone makes it really wearable. I wore this out the other night and got a ton of compliments on it.
The next thing in the box is the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Stained Gloss in Androgyne.
Behold the bright gloss that’s insanely wearable! Inspired by the translucence of stained glass, OCC’s high shine Stained Gloss takes the cult classic Lip Tar into semi-sheer territory. The vegan, gluten-free formula contains hemp oil and vitamin E and peppermint oil, and leaves behind a reflective jelly finish.
This is the full size, at $18. When I pulled this out, I thought, you’re messing with me Glossybox. You’re taking the popart thing too far, and this is ridiculous. But I actually really love it. It’s not nearly as opaque as the bottle makes it seem, so you can sheer it out to wear as a light tangerine gloss, or you can wear it over a lipstick. I posted a photo on my instagram that shows just how wearable it is. So if you get this, don’t be afraid, and don’t dismiss it right away. The only problem with this (and with most of the OCC line) is that you do have to cart around a lip brush with you all day. Some people don't mind this, and I don't, but I know it can be a deal breaker for others.
Product #4, Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum.
If you could see your skin 4 weeks from now, you’d start tonight. From the storied beauty brand comes this intensive serum that helps reduce the look of uneven skintone with a proprietary technology, which works on contact to brighten dark spots and impart moisture. Apply on clean skin AM and PM before your moisturizer.
This sample is worth $14.88, the full size is $62. I was commenting to a friend that I was looking for a night serum, so this came at just the right time. I don’t use this in the morning, because I already have a day cream that I love, but I’ve been wearing this religiously every night. I’ve had a few breakouts lately (stress and emotions will do that to you), and this has done a really good job helping to fade the dark spots away. Do recommend.
The final product in the box is the Julep Gel Eye Glider in Olive.
Clinically proven to last more than 10 hours, this eye pencil has the color payoff of a gel liner. The waterproof formula glides on easily, sets in 30 seconds, and then stays put, no matter the adventure!
This is also a full size: $16. I never did the Julep maven boxes or shopped from their website, so I haven’t tried a single product from this brand ever. I’m happy to say that my first go with this brand has been a good experience. I love using green eyeliner because it makes my hazel eyes look a little greener. This one is also glides along easily, and then stays put. When it says all day, it means all day. Very impressed.
As you can tell, I loved this box. Every bit of it. I can highly recommend subscribing to Glossybox because it is far superior to any other subscription box I am with. And after this month’s more disappointing boxes from some competing brands, I’m thinking about cutting them loose. Especially given how valuable this box is at $74.28.
So, in bad news, the pop art box is sold out. The good news is, they have some of the classic pink boxes, but with these great products inside, still available. The great news is that I have the opportunity to GIVE AWAY (!) two of these boxes. It’s going to be an instagram contest, going live on Saturday (April 18th), so if you aren’t following me, please go do so, and you might win a fabulous prize.
Even if you don’t win, check out their website here for great things. You won’t be disappointed.
