Kate Middleton FOTD
The Duchess of
Cambridge had a baby! As of writing this, still no baby name. I'm hoping for a Diana, but either way, I’m royal-family-obsessed. I think that she’s the
prettiest woman in the whole world, and that she’s just so cute with Prince
William, and that they have the most adorable tiny little boy ever. And now
they have baby #2!
My total admiration of
Kate also extends to her style choices. She always looks puts together. I know
that it’s totally easy to look great when you have essentially unlimited access
to designer clothes, but she still looks flawless. I even stood outside in the
rain to meet her back in 2011, and she looked great there too, even if her
sportswear and the drizzle.
Today, I’m playing dress
up as what I think the Everyday Kate looks like (get it!?). I focused on what I
think that she looks like on the daily, with her signature blowout and dark
rimmed eyes.
Okay, so to jump into
this look, I applied a liberal coat of Smashbox Hydrating Photoready Primer. I
was heading to work right after, so I needed this to last. After that, using my
Beauty Blender, I applied the L’Oreal Lumi True Match Foundation. It gives you
really nice glowy skin, and I love the finish. The coverage is not really
heavy, but I’m okay with that at this time of year. To finish off my base, I
also use the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye to get rid of those dark circles.
Alrighty. Those eyes.
Kate does a totally liner-rimmed eye, pretty much all the time. I also thought
that she looked the kind of person who would like a great plum eye. Something
neutral, but also a little regal. On the eyes, I’m wearing just three shadows.
The pink shade from the Almay i-Color Trio for Hazels was my transition shade,
and then I used Maybelline’s Single Shadow in 105 Amethyst all over the lid.
Inner corner, brow bone, and the center of the lid were all the Ethereal from Pacifica.
It has a purple-opal cast to it, so it works well to add to the eye as a
highlight shade.
To get that
Kate full-eyeliner look, which I don’t rock much, to be fair, I used the Urban
Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet for my lower waterline, and then
Tarte Inner Rim Liner on the top lid. I love the Tarte Inner Rim Liner, but it
doesn’t really set. If you touch it, it will smudge, but it won’t smudge unless
touched. Because of this, I really like to use it on my top lid, but not my
lower lid. My lower lid gets touched more during the day, strangely, and I
definitely don’t want my liner to smudge. UD 24/7 doesn’t move, but it doesn’t
ever fell as precise as the Tarte one, so I used both.
I finished the eyes
off with two generous coats of Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara.
At this point, I like
to finish off the face makeup. I set my undereyes with CoverFX Matte Setting
Powder in Light, and then add some blush from Essence. Kate always has a soft
pink blush. I also did a little contouring with Benefit Hoola bronzer. Kate doesn’t
seem to contour, but I am all about that life.
Finally, on the lips,
I have Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 in Coconut for moisture, and then a light pink
gloss. Kate wears a neutral pink lip pretty much always, so I used Mai Couture
Social Gloss in Femme Fatale.
For a bouncy blowout
like Kate’s, I relied on my good old 1” Conair Ceramic Curling Iron that I’ve
had since I was in middle school. It’s still going strong and is great for the
loose bouncy blowout look without all the round brushing. Before I went to town
on it with that, I sprayed it down with my Tresemme heat protectant. It’s the
best kind of heat protectant on the market, and it’s a great budget choice.
Finally, to finish it up, I gave it a coat of Aussie You Can Shine Finishing
Spray for loads of shine and a little bit of hold.
