Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Dupe?
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer has been my Holy Grail concealer since I started using it back in May. I think it is totally worth it, but it is pricey ($29!). It makes me cringe thinking about paying for it. I use the shade Custard, and I haven’t found anything I like as much. I heard that Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ($6.49 or so) is a dupe, and wanted to test this. If I can get away with not using the Nars, I definitely would, so I had high hopes heading in.
Maybelline definitely has a smaller shade range, with only six shades, of which I am the lightest. It’s really best at fitting the medium skin tones, with the very pale and very dark getting left out. Nars on the other hand has ten shades that do a better job of covering the farther ends of the skin tone spectrum. As I said, I use Nars Custard and Maybelline Light. For me this a draw between the two, since both colors fit me fairly well.
The packaging on these looks very similar, however Nars feels much more sturdy and substantial (understandably so). The applicators are also very similar doe-foot applicators. Nars has a tighter neck, taking off more product before it gets to your face, which I find a nice bonus. Nars also has a larger applicator, which I like a little bit better. So Nars wins the packaging round.
In terms of consistency, Nars is definitely thicker. It’s more of a whipped mousse while Maybelline is slightly runnier. I think that this comes down to a matter of preference, and both of them have their merits. I found that the Nars concealer had instant full coverage, which was great for my undereyes, but this also made it harder to blend. Not impossible, just a little less wieldy. On the other hand, Maybelline was a dream to blend. No problems at all, but was undeniably lighter (but buildable) coverage. My dark circles have been better lately, so the full coverage is nice, but not a total must for me right now. There’s also not a noticeable difference in longevity, as far as I can tell. They both stay on about the same, and I don’t have any issues with them rubbing off during the day before I want them to. Total tie.
In the end, I like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer more. I think it might be the glorious mousse texture. However, I don’t think I will repurchase it when it is gone. The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is honestly so close in performance and shade that I can’t justify spending $20+ more on it. If you’re looking for a splurge, or have a very pale or darker skin tone, by all means, go for the Nars, but if you’re looking for the save, Maybelline is a great choice, provided they have a shade that fits for you.
