Boxycharm Decmber 2015 (Only a Little Late)

Because of my travels, my Boxycharm December box only made its way into my hands a few days ago.

This month’s theme is centered on getting glam for New Year’s Eve, using the tagline “Pop Fizz Clink”. The packaging is all decadently 1920s art deco themed, which is one of my favorite things.
Like in past months, the products don’t match the theme very well, but they’re good, so I will forgive them for this.

Tatcha Petal Fresh Original Aburatogami - $12

Soft, absorbent leaflets made of 100% natural abaca leaf and golf flake to absorb excess oil without disturbing makeup for petal fresh skin. Gently pat a single leaflet anywhere there is excess oil on the face. Use both sides of each sheet. Discard after use. Biodegradable.

I wish that I could love these. They are divinely soft and I love that they are all natural and biodegradable…but I have dry skin. I have never needed a blotting paper in my life. I’ll be passing these along to someone who needs them more than I do.

Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow - $15.95

An oil free lightweight luminizing gel, enriched with micronized pearlescent pigments and jasmine extract to highlight the face for a fresh, radiant complexion. Dab onto cheekbones and brow bones with your ring finger and blend out with a brush.

Jelly Pong Pong’s Glow Getter is one of my all-time favorite highlighters, so I was beyond ecstatic to get this one to try out. I love it. It’s a subtle amount of shine and radiance without being overbearing or giving you that glitter face look. It’s also suitable both over and under foundation. I can’t wait to wear this on a few date nights in the future.

Mullein and Sparrow Mini Facial Mask - $15

This facial mask contains a blend of powerful, detoxifying clays mixed with soothing aromatic herbs that help refine pores and provide a gentle exfoliation. Use weekly by mixing a small amount with water and applying to moistened face. Allow to dry before gently rinsing with warm water.

This is so adorable. Mullein and Sparrow have the cutest vintage packaging. This is a little too much trouble for me. You have to mix it and then put it on. I can barely be bothered with masks as it is, so this is taking that just a step too far. That said, the results are amazing. My skin feels baby soft and all my blemishes cleared up nearly overnight. So, if you can manage to get through the mixing and applying hassle, it’s worth it.

Nelson J Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask - $23

Unique 100% argan oil derived moisturizing treatment provides long lasting and the most effective result for color-treated, dry, or damaged hair. Coconut scent. Apply Moisture Healing Mask once a week to towel dried hair. Leave in hair for one minute, rinse, and style as desired. For a deeper repair, leave mask in hair for up to 5 minutes.

So I didn’t read the directions on this very well and did not rinse it out. In fairness, the directions on the back of the tube are a little difficult to comprehend. Still, my hair was soft, smelled nice, and didn’t look damaged or greasy! So that’s good news. Wet or dry, this probably won’t be a colossal disaster! I just brought home a ton of actual 100% unadulterated argan oil from Morocco, so this might get passed on, but it’s great, and totally worth the money.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano - $19.90

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick is a one-step full lip color that does not feather. It is creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect. Contains antioxidants and Vitamin E. Sweep color onto lips using the doe-foot applicator and blend.

I love a good liquid lipstick and I have been wanting to try Ofra’s for a while, but couldn’t quite justify taking the plunge. So. Good news – this is delightful. It goes on smoothly, and stays on forever. It also doesn’t dry my lips out like my beloved Stila does. Bad news – this color isn’t doing much for me. I don’t think that it looks…bad…but it doesn’t look very much like me. It’s a 90s grunge brown that is so popular right now. I’ve never tried it before, and I think it will take some growing on me.

Bellapierre Waterproof Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon - $17.99

This waterproof lip pencil can be used to rep the lips for Mineral Lipstick, on their own as an all-over lip color. With your lips relaxed and slightly parted, line your lips following their natural shape. To help your mineral lipstick last longer, use the side of the lip liner pencil to fill in your lips with color before applying.

This matches the Ofra lipstick nearly perfectly, so I’m grateful that they at least coordinated their products to go well together. I’m not sure about this being authentically waterproof, but it does last ages, especially under another lip color. I can see the difference in longevity almost immediately.

I think this was another great month. I got some things I will definitely use and love, as well as some things to push me out of my comfort zone a little. I consider that to be a success. I’ll also definitely be using a couple of these things as I get ready for NYE tomorrow!
