Fast Five: Most-Loved Makeup Brushes
There are some makeup
tools that make life easier. I love putting
on my makeup every day, but sometimes, I’m in a hurry, I’m running late, and I
need to be in the car five minutes ago. In times like these, I turn to my old
faithful cohort of brushes. For today’s post, I have my five favorite, tried
and tested brushes that I don’t think I could live without. I love that they’re
from all different price points too.
1.
Sephora
Powder Brush
I love this brush
because of its all-purpose nature. When I’m traveling light, or spending a
night away from home, I like to be able to pack as few brushes as possible, and
this one ends up in the bag every time. It’s great for blending out a streaky
foundation, or applying some foundations, powder, blush, bronzer, highlight…you
name it. I am all about that multipurpose life.
Available (similar)
here.
2.
Real Techniques
Deluxe Crease Brush
This one has appeared
in several favorites posts. It’s what took my blending game from zero to ten in
a hurry…at a bargain price. If you’re new to eyeshadow, or just suck at
blending, this is the brush for you. It fits in my crease really well and can
be used to place color or to blend out already set down shades.
Available here (in a set).
3.
Luxie 504
Large Angled Brush
I’ve had a love-hate relationship
with blush for a long, long time. This brush makes both the placement and the
amount very easy. The large, angled tip is designed for a flawless, even sweep
of color, while the soft (softest brushes ever) bristles pick up and deliver
just the right amount of color.
Available here.
4.
MAC 219
The is must-have
quintessential MAC brush. If you’re getting one, I think this should be it. I
know that a lot of people will argue for the 217, but I think it should be the
219. This pencil brush has been, in my experience, undupeable. I use this for
defining my outer V, or for applying color to the lower lash line.
Available here.
5.
Real
Techniques Accent Brush
Where I use the MAC
219 to place color, I use this brush to blend color. IT has taken my lower
lashline from nothing to a smokey beautiful party in no time flat. Like the other
Real Techniques blush, it’s easy to pick up and immediately improve your
skills.
Available here (in a set).
There you have it, my
five most-used brushes. They’re with me nearly every day. It’s not that I can’t
use other brushes, it’s that I don’t want to. I firmly believe that you should
outfit yourself with the best tools possible, and sometimes that’s a trial and
error process. After almost five years of blogging, these are the ones that
have stood the test of time.
