Underrated Drugstore Beauty
I think that drugstore makeup gets a bad rap on a lot of beauty blogs. I see a lot of posts praising the usual favorites…Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, and Lancome, but less so for NYC, Rimmel, and Wet N Wild. I’m a big fan of the drugstore, and since it doesn’t get nearly enough love, I have my favorite, most underrated drugstore makeup for you today.
Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Nail Polish
By far the best nail polishes available today, when used with the matching top coat. They will last a full week unchipped and totally shiny. They are also just a few dollars a pop, less than comparable drugstore brands.
Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio (especially Walking on Eggshells)
Do you remember when Stila Kitten was popular? It was pretty long ago…maybe from back when I first started reading beauty blogs. Anyway, it’s a perfect dupe for one of the shades in the Walking on Eggshells trio. The quality of these is also ridiculously good for the price. People don’t talk about these anymore, and I think they should. Wet N Wild. Check it out. They make great things.
Milani Matte Color Statement Lipstick
These are another thing that I feel maybe already had its day. This was something that was hyped up a lot when it came out, and then died off abruptly. Milani is, in my opinion, really close in formulation to the MAC Matte lipsticks. It is drying, but not nearly as bad as my usual liquid-lipstick routine.
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara
If you saw my recent eyebrow routine, you’ll know that this has been making an appearance every day for me. If you love Benefit Gimme Brow, then you’ll love this for a budget-friendly option. I don’t think that nearly enough people are talking about this for how good it is. I can see myself repurchasing it over and over.
