Baking Fail

In today's edition of really-behind-the-times, baking. This was a trend that I just couldn't get my head around, so I decided to try it today. Armed with a dozen makeup tutorials, two kinds of powder, a beauty blender, and a fluffy brush, I sat down ready to go.

In theory, this should be easy. Kim K does it, so it shouldn't be impossible!

I put on eye cream, foundation, and then concealer. I blended out the concealer, just like normal. Then. The powder. I dusted on a thin coat of translucent powder, then, with a damp beauty blender I packed on that powder. It left a big white circle around my eye. It seemed like it was too much. Way too much. But this is how it looked in all the before pictures that I saw, so I persisted. 

I did the rest of my makeup and then used a fluffy brush to swirl away any excess powder. 

And the reveal?

A cakey mess. Holy god. This was a total fail in every sense of the word. What the hell happened?

That's the end of baking for me. Why does it work so well for Instagram models, and so badly for me? Am I doing it wrong. Please let me know. Otherwise, this is one recipe I won't be trying again.
