A Few of My Favorite Things - January

Was I the only one who thought January was 291 days long? I could not wait for it to leave. It has also been freezing and snowing here. I like the winters here, but it has been just exhausting. It’s not fun when the ground is so crispy and I’m worried about my car battery. Anyway, I was still able to find a few things I was loving this month!

Makeup and Skin

MAC Lipstick in Brave

I talked about this in my most recent blog post about lipsticks. This has been my most used lipstick this month, and I’ve been pulling it out all the time. It’s the perfect “I woke up like this” color for me.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate

This is something that I have used on and off for a while, but I’m back on right now. I love the smell of this. it’s herbal and green but has a little something else. It also really pulls everything out of my pores. I can’t use it too often because it’s pretty harsh, but I see a difference every time.

ImPress Nails

You know that I love my imPress nails. They’ve been killing it lately with holiday sets, fancy red-carpet-ready sets. They’re also rolling out solid colors, 3D nails, and something called jelly nails. I have some on order, so I can figure out what’s the deal with those. Altogether though, I’ve been so happy with them this month, and my nails get a ton of compliments when I’m out.

Shop Miss A False Lashes in Louella

These are my favorite eyelashes. They’re cheap. $1.55 cheap. I can use these a few times before they start to look ratty, which means I’m more than getting my money’s worth.

Books, Podcasts, & TV

Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid

I’ve been loving this book. In the beginning, it hits a little close to home. Single, 25, trying to find meaningful work, lacking in health insurance….but it becomes a delightful story about friendship and race and what it means to be an adult. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Criminal Podcast

If you aren’t listing to Criminal podcast with PHoebe Judge, I’m not sure what to say. It covers a huge range of criminal activities, from the very serious to the more light. The journalism and storytelling are great, and I also love that it’s a little on the short side. The perfect length for a commute!

Lifestyle

Warby Parker

I wear Warby Parker glasses exclusively. Mostly because ’'m cheap. I have bad eyes, and I wear glasses nearly every day. I will wear contacts when I know I’m shooting photos or on special occasions, but it is a rare occasion at this time. When trying to buy glasses as a -4.25, several hundred dollars isn’t crazy, and people with worse eyes are sighing in agreement. I’ve never spent more than $125 at Warby Parker on a pair of glasses, but that’s not what I wanted to talk about. My glasses broke a few weeks ago. Their customer service to help me out was beyond phenomenal. If I didn’t already love them up this would have done it for me! I can’t recommend it highly enough, and now I have my favorite pair of glasses back!

Klarbrunn Pomelo Grapefruit

I did a taste test of different sparkling waters. Spoiler, Klarbrunn isn’t my favorite, but I have been reaching for it nearly every day. Charles picked up a bunch of the Pomelo Grapefruit and I’ve been taking it to work. It’s delightfully tart and does the trick for a little pick me up at the office.
