100-Hour Brownies | Reviewed

I love brownies. I love chocolate anything, really, but I love brownies. I do not, however, make brownies from scratch ever. My brownies are strictly a Betty Crocker-add-oil-and-eggs situation. My mind has changed on this. I stumbled across this video from Alvin Zhou, one of the producers at Buzzfeed's Tasty, and the video was both beautiful and convinced me to try these brownies.

100-hour-brownies

I'll admit it was a stretch because these are not called 100-hour Brownies for nothing. They take all that 100 hours, mostly in waiting and patience. First, make the batter. It calls for multiple sticks of butter, coffee, and two kinds of chocolate. You know it's going to be rich. But then, the batter is left to sit on its own for three full days in the refrigerator before baking the dough. After baking, it needs to be flash cooled, and again, more waiting before you can finally eat them—a full four days from when you started.

100-hour-brownies

I made them. I did every step. I browned the butter. I mixed by hand. I waited. And in the end, it was worth it. These are the best brownies I've ever eaten. Rich, salty, buttery. Perfect. I may never try another brownie again in my whole life.
