Bite Changemaker Foundation Review
So, you know why you’re here. Its a foundation review. Let’s lay it out. I have normal to dry skin, and I’m typically on the lighter end of the foundation spectrum, especially at this time of the year. I am lucky in that I do not have a lot of texture or scarring, but do have some fine lines around my eyes and also a few enlarged pores on my cheeks. All that in, I like a medium-coverage base in a skin-like finish. I don’t like to look too flawless or too much like makeup.
I also love Bite Beauty. I’ve been a big fan since the beginning. I was very hesitant about their new relaunch because I loved them so much before. I was happy to give them a chance, but I did come in ready to get my heartbroken. Bite has really doubled down on “clean” which I disagree with on principle, but that’s a post for another day. According to Bite:
The website provides a little guidance on how to put it on, suggesting using your fingers or a brush, and also that coverage is buildable.
I tested this out ever several days and tried it with a beauty blender, a Real Techniques blending sponge, fingers, and two different foundation brushes. I prefer it with a thick kabuki-style foundation brush. It gives the best overall coverage and effect of real skin. It does look like skin. I happened to get a fantastic shade match, and when I put it on, it doesn’t look like I have a foundation on at all, just good skin. I don’t think that coverage is buildable without getting into cakey territory. It’s true medium coverage. I can see things like freckles or bigger blemishes, but the usual uneven tone is completely gone. If you’re a powder-setting kind of gal, this stays pretty tacky for a good 30 seconds for blending or setting but doesn’t look cakey with powder products on top.
How about that texture? This lays down into my smile lines pretty badly. It doesn’t make my pores look any worse though, and with a pore-filling primer, looks fantastic. I tried the matching primer in-store but wasn’t impressed, so opted not to get it. The wear time on this is also fairly good by my standards. I notice that it starts to fade around the ten-hour mark, which is more than sufficient to get me through the workday. I will then usually get a few more hours out of by just giving it a few taps with a beauty blender to even out the coverage again.
Overall, I would say that I’m happy with this. I was initially very skeptical because I was not seeing anyone talk about this that hadn’t been sponsored (not PR-packages, sponsored. Paid.). I am usually wary when I don’t see any organic reach, but this appears to be the exception rather than the rule. This exceeded my expectations and will be a foundation that I know I return to.
The Bite Beauty Changemaker Foundation (and a primer, and a powder foundation) can be found at the Bite Beauty website or Sephora. This product retails for $39.50.
