My Christmas Wishlist
Every year, we get to around this time, and I don't really know what I want, or what I need for that matter. The usually things are on my Christmas wishlist...fulltime employment, someone to cover my car payment for a while, for a whole year without any crushing anxiety...the usual.
But beyond that...the holidays are time for fun things. Fun gifts. Cute gifts. So here are some of my wants (and a need or two) for this holiday season.
There are a few techy items that I would like to get my hands on. First is a new laptop. My old white Sony is nearing the end of its days (but not dead yet!) and it would be nice to have a backup ready. After some research, I think that I want the Dell XPS 13. It's light, thin, and powerful. Perfect for editing photos and videos. Another tech item that has me intrigued are the Aftershokz Bone-Conducting headphones. These sit on the bone in front of your ears so that you can still hear everything around you, while enjoying your music or podcasts. I also recently got an iPhone 7, and these are great because of their long-lasting bluetooth battery. With my iPhone, and moving to a new home soon, I'd like a charging area, like this one from Anthropologie. But could you DIY this for less than $70? Of course you could. Last tech item is a new Fitbit. I have the Fitbit Flex, and have for a few years. A nice upgrade would be the Fitbit Alta.

For wearables...because everyone needs some wearables...I have a few things that are on my yes-list. First are Modcloth dresses. These are getting to be my signature style...a-line dresses with an interesting print and a cardigan has gotten to be my uniform for work and weekend. I love this one from Emily and Finn. I love airplanes, and I love this brand in particular. I will also link some more of my picks for fun dresses here. The next item is a pair of chukka-esque boots from Red Wing Heritage. They are spendy, but they're beautiful. I saw them in person recently and totally fell in love. I didn't try them on because I would have had to take them home and the pricetag isn't in my budget just now, but I can dream, right? On the less spendy end of things, I also would like some warm knit sweaters. Winters in the northern US are cold, and it's good to be practical. One last wearable item would be a nice pair of sunglasses. I've had the same pair for five years or so, but they're starting to look ratty. Then again, I'm not particularly careful with them.

A few more fun items...you knew there had to be at least one beauty item in here. My friends and family don't generally buy me makeup because a) I have way too much already, and b) because they know that I have more knowledge about what is worth the money and what isn't. I have a best beauty gifts coming up in a few days if that's what you're looking for, but today, I just picked one. An Amuse Bouche Lipstick from Bite. What I think will happen is that when I'm in Toronto, I might stop by the Lip Lab for a custom lipstick. Talk about a splurge. I kind of what something unique like Squid Ink (navy blue) or Kale (deep green). I also need a new waterbottle that doesn't leak, and the S'well ones seem to be the gold standard right now. And they come in cute colors. The last item is definitely not a need. KitchenAid is making little baby standmixers now. In a tiny apartment, the smaller size is better for our limited storage and counter space, but is also a powerful as a full-size mixer. Perfect for my late-night baking.
