July Allure Beauty Box

Where is July going? It’s been really weird because quarantine is starting to be lifted…but not really. It’s very strange. We’re having a spike, but more and more stores are open. I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time knowing where to draw the line. Life has to go on, but I also don’t want to take any extra risk, you know? When we venture out, I’m keeping that mask on and not interested in getting too close to anyone. I’ll say that playing with makeup and writing for this blog has kept me busy and away from the temptations of leaving the house.

For those of you not in the know, the Allure beauty box is shipped out each month by Allure the magazine. It contains 5-8 items that can be minis, deluxe or travel-sized, or full-sized items. Every month is different, but spoilers come out in advance in case you’re a stop-and-start subscriber. Each month is $15. If you want to get your first month for $10, you can sign up here!

Now that we got that out of the way, what’s in here?

First in the box was the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum (retail value of $39). This contains niacinamide, which my skin just eats up like crazy. This feels so wonderful. My skin is truly glass-like after I use it. My skin feels firmer, healthier, and looks better. It’s so strange because I can’t put my finger on it besides…better. I just look better. This also smells fantastic. Light and fruity and like summer.

The only color product in the bag this time is the Beautaniq Beauty Butter Lip & Cheek Balm in Peach Blush (retail value of $16). I prefer cream blushes, so I was excited to try this one. It’s much peachier than I would usually choose, but I like the formula a lot. It’s also a bigger bang for your buck than my favorite cream blushes from Fenty.

Still riding that skincare chain is the OSEA Ocean Cleanser (retails for $18 in this travel size, but a larger size retails for $48). This is a vegan, California-made gentle cleanser that claims to make you look “like a morning person”. I don’t know about all that. I’m not confident any amount of makeup makes me look like I wanted to get up at 6 this morning. It left my skin looking very healthy though, which is really what I was looking for. I feel like I’ve had more time to spend on my skin, which is a definite plus of being home all the time, and I will get some use out of this one!

There was a little variation between the boxes here. I received a tiny tube of the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger. Grass Calming Gel Cream (full size is $48, making this sample worth $4.80). I have a fondness for Dr. Jart. I think that the products can be pricey, but I haven't’ met one that I didn’t like as of yet. This is supposed to be the best for calming some skin irritation! I love to use actives on my face, like acids, but I don’t love the redness I often have afterward. This takes that down right away, no problem! I'll be saving it for my once-a-week peel time to clear up any weirdness.

Over the months, Allure has sent me a wide variety of face masks from LAPCOS. I have zero complaints about this. This box had the Charcoal Sheet Mask (a set of five masks is $15), which isn’t my favorite one. I prefer lightening masks. But, all of the masks I have used all give a great tight fit on my face. I decided I would wait until I have a nasty breakout or a bunch of flaky skin to use this one and hopefully clean out all my icky pores.

The last item in the box was also a skincare product. Acne patches are super trendy, so I was excited to get some from Avarelle (retails for $8.49, 40 patches. They sent me a sample pack of 8 patches) to try out. I love the idea that every time I get a nasty spot, this will just take it away. My favorite way to use these is to wear them overnight and wake up with my zit completely healed. They’re kind of hard to get off the backing they come on but are extremely effective on.

Am I happy with this box? Yes. Compared to the last few, I felt like this one had a much better handle on what I want to use and love. It also hit a bunch of trends that I’m into right now! I can’t wait to use the blush more, or my little zit stickers. If you’re interested in getting a beauty box from Allure, you can check them out here! Do you get any subscription boxes?
