The Grammy Awards: 2012

Disclaimer: All the opinions above are completely my own, and don't even begin to completely explain how I feel about music, art, and fashion. As well, the pictures are *not* mine.

As I'm typing, my lovelies, the Grammy Awards are still going on my TV in the background, sadly, on mute.

Unfortunately, sometimes I feel like the music that's out right now is very rarely are acts good live. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't stop me from blasting the radio in my car and singing along to every song that's on American Top 40, but Katy Perry just doesn't sound as good as I feel she should. And that's not to single her out. I feel that way about a lot of the performers this year. There are a few notable exceptions, as always. Bruno Mars always sounds stunning, even when I don't like the song. His voice is mesmerizing. I think my favorite of his though, was last year, when he sang Valerie as a tribute to Amy Winehouse. Taylor Swift was her usual cute, quirky self, even if I don't care much for her personally. She sounded pretty good too. I don't always care for Adele's vocal sound, but she does sound the same live as she does on her records, which is respectable.

However, as open as I am to musical genres, I don't like people who are overly egotistical or just put up a particularly bad show. I'm talking, of course, about Chris Brown. I don't mean to beat the dead horse, no pun intended (seriously), but I have personal qualms against him since the Rhianna incident. I also don't think that he is a talented singer. Dancer, yes, singer no. In my opinion, if you can't survive without autotune, you probably should choose another field. Gwynneth Paltrow was also there. I don't like her either, but let's not dwell on that, because it is quite a long story.
So many people looked so beautiful, but I'd like to call attention to a few people I noticed in particular. In a field where the women come thin, sleek haired, and tall, I'm always happy to see people who look a little more like...people. In country music, I really like that you don't seem to need to fit the mold of 'attractive' as long as you have a great voice, and I love that. And to talk about Adele again, she looks great. She's not skinny. That's just a fact. But she dresses well, and carries herself with class.

I am a girl, so of course I watch for the clothes as well as the music and actual awards.

Some of my favorites were Taylor Swift, looking elegant; Adele, who shows us you don't have to be a size 0 to be fabulous; and Lily Aldrige, who was smoking hot even in maternity regalia.

But not just the ladies looked great! I'm not a fan of tattoos, but Adam Levine really cleans up nicely in a suit, as well as John Legend, and my perpetual favorite, Bruno Mars.
His date, while hot, appears to have forgotten half her dress!

There were of course the not-so-well-dressed, and to keep that list short: Fergie, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga were not really looking so awesome in my opinion. Personally, I'm not really into the fashion as art that is Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. I think they're both beautiful women, and have both looked better. Fergie...I'm not sold on the see-through dress. I feel that you should always be able to be modest, and look sexy at the same time, and I don't think that flashing your undergarments really accomplishes that. I'm not a prude, by any means, but if everyone else is in beautiful gowns, the least you could do is reciprocate.

I had a good time watching, but it is definitely time for bed. I hope you enjoyed the Grammys, if you got to watch, and wish you all an excellent evening :)
