Product Review: Almay Intense I-color Liquid Liner in Black Pearl
I have a very love-hate relationship with liquid liner. I
don’t like putting it on, and I don’t like wearing it. But it looks so nice!
Liquid liner has a very specific look to it that you can’t get with gel liner
or pencil. For that reason, even though I can’t quite bring myself to commit to
the liquid as a way of life, I decided to try the Almay Intense I-color in
Black Pearl. It's pretty cost effective. Even in Canada, where prices tend to be a little higher, it was only about $8.
I’m going to be honest. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. It has some pretty chunky glitter in it, and I hadn’t anticipated that. It does
come out as more of a soft black though, which I do really like. It goes on
really well, which is something that I was really concerned about. It has a
nice felt tip applicator, so you can do a thick line or a thin one pretty
easily. It’s nice a buildable and easy to control. Once it’s on, it’s there all
day. I can wear it with my contacts, sweat, and generally go about my day. In
that sense, it’s been fantastic.
In a more negative tone, it is not the color I was
expecting, and the glitter can be a little distracting. I’m sure I’ll still
wear it, but it does take some getting used to because it isn’t a flat black
color. Also, when I said it was buildable, what I really meant was that it goes
on very thin, and you’ll need a couple of coats to make it black as opposed to
gray. Not a big deal, but it’s good to know these things in advance.
I’m not sure that I’m going to go for this brand again. It’s
doing an alright job, but nothing stellar.
I posted a couple of (bad quality) photos, so you can get an
idea of what it looks like. I wasn’t wearing any makeup today, so I ran to my
bathroom and made up one eye with a coat of mascara and the Black Pearl liner,
so you could see what it looks like. Of all the pictures I took, this is the only relatively clear one. You can see how shiny the liner is.
Have a great day!
