Christmas Gift Guide 2012
It feels like it has been decades since I last sat down and
properly wrote a blog post. That tag does not
count! Thankfully, my year has been winding down, and I’m going to be in possession
of at least a little bit more free time. Usually, I’m the kind of person who
leaves my Christmas shopping to the last minute. This year, I’m going to be in
Hawaii for Christmas, so I had to get my shopping done well in advance.
Last year, I did a gift guide of everything I had bought for
people. I wasn’t really intending upon doing this again, but I changed my mind.
Foolishly, before changing my mind, I wrapped all of my presents up with fancy
ribbon. It took a lot of effort. They look really pretty now, though. So all
the photos are going to be stock photos. You can go ahead and assume that none
of them are mine. Oh! And if you’re in my direct family, or my roommate, stop
reading this or you’ll ruin Christmas. Good? Good.
Mom first. My mom is in her mid-fifties. She works from
home, but is soon to start working back in an office. She talks a lot about how
glamorous it is to have nice makeup and bath products and things. Since she’s
going back to work, I got her a makeup brush set from Sephora. That way it will
start to get her ready for when she’s back working with young people who do put
a lot of time into their appearance.
Travel Essentials Brush Kit from Sephora $42 |
I also got her the Mr. Frosty bath bomb
set from Lush. It’s cold, and a warm bath makes everyone happy. Especially one
that smells nice.
Mr. Frosty Gift Set from Lush $21.95 |
Dad is always the hardest person to shop for. If he wants
something, he’ll just buy it for himself. A few weeks ago, he bought himself a
Kindle touch, so I got him a case for it from Amazon. Guys love their tech
accessories, so I think that he’ll love it. I got a nice charcoal grey colour,
because it matches his work brief case.
Marware Kindle Case from Amazon $29.99 |
He’s a professor, and is always
carrying around little notebooks, so I picked him up some fancy cloth bound ones
from Fossil, pretty much because he doesn’t have many really nice things, and these are really fancy.
Journals from Fossil $24 |
My sister and I aren’t close, but she does live with my
parents still. I don’t know a lot about her to be honest. One thing I do know
is that she has a penchant for peppermint tea. I got her a packet of loose
peppermint tea from David’s Tea, along with a mug that comes with a strainer. I
think she’ll like it. The mug changes colour when it gets hot, so it’s real
spiffy.
Black Heat Sensitive Mug from David's Tea $19.50 |
My sister has two kids, George and Jenna, ages eleven and
seven. George is getting an anywhere table tennis set. It attaches to any
table. I think he’ll love it. Boys are hard to buy for.
Jenna is your archetypal girly girl. Whenever I’m home she
wants to paint my nails, and do my hair, and put on my makeup for me. Being
seven, you end up looking a little more…garish…than normal. But she doesn’t
like the kiddie stuff. She wants to use
big grownup makeup, and she can tell the difference. Essence is my go-to for
that. It’s very adult, but also lower in price. I got her four nail polishes,
as well as the sparkliest pink lip gloss I could find. She will love it.
Finally, we have the roommates. Beth is getting a perfume
set from Sephora. She likes her perfumes. She was saying recently that she
doesn’t have many floral scents, only musky ones, so I made sure to get her
some that came in floral. They’re also in cute little roller balls. :)
Tokidoki Rollerball Duo from Sephora $23 |
Odessa is a big fan of Superman. I found this cute little
plushie online and just had to get it. She’s going to love it.
Funko Superman Plush from Amazon $12.99 |
So that’s what I bought for the people I like. I also might
need to pick up a little something for the boyfriend, but I don’t think he’s getting
me anything, to be honest, and I’m alright with that.
What are you planning on getting everyone this year? Did you
find the shopping tough? Oh! For those asking, I'm still doing my book of the week, I just need some time to do all the posts. It's being done though.
