January 2014 Topbox
I was working on some posts for
the blog today when my Topbox arrived!
This month the prive options were
really lacking, so I’m still getting the regular one. For those of you curious,
the prive boxes, which have only one brand in them, offered this month were
Benefit, Skinceuticals, and OSIS+. I have so many Benefit products, and way too
much skincare already, and the OSIS+ box only had two products, so I passed on
all three.
I’ve had a disappointing couple
of months with Topbox. I was really hoping that it would be better this month. They
also bumped back the shipping date, so they come on the 15th instead
of the 10th, so I was really hoping that the extra few days would
work out to better products. Unfortunately, they have struck out again. Here’s
what was in the tube:
Aveda Stress-fix Body Lotion
Hydrating body lotion with aroma
proven to relieve feelings of stress. Aroma includes essences of lavender, lavandin
and clary sage from organic farms and is formulated using the science of
aromaology and the power of pure essential oils.
Full size: $32.50 for 200mL
Sample: $4.06 for 25mL
I like Aveda a lot, but it’s
never something that’s exceptional. I find a lot of their scents to be really cloying
and unpleasant. Sage is really not my favourite smell, s I’m not sure how much
use I’ll get out of it.
Cargo Cosmetics Better than
Waterproof Mascara
A water resistant mascara that is
gentle enough to be worn every day! All the benefits of a waterproof mascara
without the harsh wear and tear on lashes.
Full size: $24 for 10mL
Sample: $10.80 for 4.5mL
I didn’t know that wearing
waterproof mascara was bad for your lashes. I’ve never had any issues. I wear
exclusively waterproof mascara, but I’m willing to give this one a go as long
as it stays put the way it says it will. I have consistently bad luck with my
mascara forming dark circles under my eyes after just a few hours when I don’t
use waterproof. Hopefully this will work out.
Zax Healthcare Inc. Zax’s
Dark-Circle Eye Cream
We help your eyes look their
best, so you can look refreshed and youthful. Reduce puffiness, dark-circles
and fight fine lines and wrinkles too! Pharmacist developed with natural
ingredients.
Full size: $29.99 for 28g
Sample: $6.42 for 6g (3 x 2g)
I’m not really impressed with
this because on the back of the package, it says that you will need to use it
for 2-4 weeks at a minimum to see any results. These little throw-away packets
aren’t going to be enough to do that. Sometimes I feel like the things that
come in the boxes were given to them for free, and I don’t need to pay them for
that.
Belvada Cosmetics Coloured
Tweezers
These Belvada tensile stainless
steel tweezers have a unique and colourful grip that will make tweezing easy
and fun.
Full size: $5
Sample: $5
I really only need one pair of
tweezers, and I’ve got my one pair. I’ll probably stick these in my dedicated
travel bag so that I never forget them, but I didn’t really need this at all. I
also wouldn’t have paid $5 for these. They’re kind of cheap.
Also in the box was a certificate to get an Aveda beauty consultation, but it isn't valid anywhere even kind of close to me. The most east place on the list is Montreal. There was also a coupon for $3 of the Zax's dark circle cream.
Altogether, I spent $13.80 for $26.28
worth of stuff. The last few months have not been so great with Topbox and I’m
thinking about cancelling. It’s just not what I was hoping for. It’s really
inconsistent month to month and is often not things that I would use. I’ve
already been charged for next month, so I guess we’ll see.
Still hoping for a little
improvement next month, but this is slightly better than that weird smelly
Elizabeth Arden cream.
What did you get in your
subscription box this month?
